The idents we saw back in January 2015 were a lovely concept, shame we never got to see more of them. Then again, after Oneness, every previous ident package looks wonderful in comparison.
Is it wrong to say - although I'd like to see the back of Oneness sooner rather than later - that I don't want to see the return of a fairly stale, decade-old set of idents either, and that I'd prefer something new, fresh and, well... better?

A new set of idents using the circle design would be the best idea. A fresh image, while also retaining a look for BBC One that people are comfortable with.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the circles come back, but I’d agree that BBC ONE needs a fresh and revitalised take on TV branding today.

Strange that the soundtrack of the new ident is just a copy/paste of the theme tune. It strikes me as if deadlines forced this to happen. No time to find/create an appropriate soundtrack.
The amusing thing is a Strictly Oneness ident could probably work better than most of the set, with the couples dancing in, all dressed up on the set, posing for a few seconds before dancing off as the camera pulls out.
Instead, they decided to do one in the old style...

I'm not sure it's deciding to do one in the old style, as much as deciding it's cheaper and easier to re-use a bit of footage from the lavish trailer?
I think the choice of a circle for the trail was deliberate. Whether someone hadn't realised that the pres had changed I don't know but it was very much like how the Christmas trail gives a big clue for the ident.

And on that theme I'd almost prefer a new set for BBC2 over the end of Oneness, which could possibly live on a bit more respectably through re-editing the idents.
