BBC Oneness - idents and presentation

I bet idents with the filming location slapped on the front of them is going down well in the regions other than West.

Is it me, or are the new lot, so far, all just looking like rough drafts of ITV's set?

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'd be up for one or two nice contemporary 3D CGI idents with the BBC One logo instead. They could then updated it yearly to keep it fresh.

It comes to something when you realise BBC Parliament's current pres package could, actually, have been worse.

For ident nerds, the next ten years are going to be

10 years of this - is stretching it. I can't see this set lasting near to five years.

I also wonder if this was a task for the Apprentice...the savagery would have been epic.

Whoever thought introducing what is, in effect, a sub-par set of "rhythm and movement" idents - previously the most unpopular idents in BBC One's history - is a good idea needs their head examining. Worse, we have little more than gormless idiots in swimming costumes staring back at us in one of them.

To be honest, looking back I don't think the rhythm and movement idents were really that bad, they were filmed well, they kept the red branding and identity of BBC One and they had a very good soundtrack, the only problem was that they replaced a legendary set of idents so were effectively doomed from the start. This package on the other hand is just complete and utter tripe.

Agree. The soundtracks to the dancers were great.

I don't think I could add anything more that what has already been said, but I will say this... I'm embarrassed for the BBC. These are downright awful.

The fact that we've only had two (I'm not counting four, they're the same bloody thing) of these over the last 15 hours is a real concern. I thought Channel 4 were being silly by only commissioning four.
