Why is there a general consensus that these horrid idents will be dropped in January? They could just easily drop the cringeworthy 'oneness' tag but stick with them.

Think it's more wishful thinking.

When they launched this year, the BBC made out the notion that the Oneness project between Parr and BBC Creative was a year-long campaign. Probably that’s why, but the simple fact is we’ll just have to wait until then.

I highly doubt removing the Oneness tagline from the idents would do them good. It would only serve to exacerbate the lack of a unifying or memorable theme.

Brief breakdown during the weather on Countryfile just now. Graphics froze but Louise Lear did an admirable job of continuing the forecast out of vision. Towards the end the feed cut out entirely and a slightly surprised Delroy Haines apologised over a caption slide, before Countryfile resumed.

That was a very odd breakdown. Louise was doing an excellent job and got cut off for no reason. I couldn't work out if the fraction of a second appearance of black was a loss of signal from the weather studio or the pres director just cutting to black and bringing up the holding slide. I can't believe that the holding slide could appear so astoundingly quick following the loss of a source - it must've been a few hundredths of a second. If playout took Louise off air deliberately, I really don't know why. The graphics froze yes but she was doing very well, taking us through the week verbally. Possibly something else going on that we weren't aware of but the on-air result wasn't great. Even if it did give us a very rare sighting of a BBC One programme holding slide.

That wasn't a 'programme holding slide' (even though I'm sure we established a while ago that they were never called that) it's the slide they have ready for the weather bulletins in case the announcer has to read it.

Just watched it back and although she was doing OK, she did say she might not be able to continue and wasn't sure if she was on air so in that context it's not that bizarre a decision.

I do wonder why they didn't just go to part 2 of Countryfile and apologise/fill at the end. Would have looked much neater

Wasn't that well handled, was it? Presumably the weather presenter can always hear Network who could have said 'wrap it up in the next few seconds' and allowed for a smoother finish. Not sure why the flummox at the end either considering the programme was almost finished anyway.

I wonder whether Countryfile is split as two separate events or one event with a fixed period of black to drop the live insert into (making it much harder to adjust)?

I'm pretty sure it's two seperate clips, it always used to be and I'd have thought leaving a gap would be more difficult to do

Does the weather forecast in CountryFile get updated in the repeat showing on BBC Two?

Well that one way to make us more depressed.
