A new Oneness ident, Ten Pin Bowling, launched on BBC1 NI, leading into This Week last night. Didn't manage to capture it.

Think that was the one made in Nottingham with the Nottingham university ten pin bowling team. BBC East Midlands today did a feature on it a few weeks back and said they would use it a lot as well.

We appear to have a new announcer on network BBC One tonight, who pronounces Thunderball with an F and the letter H as "haitch". More dumbing down at the BBC.

Possibly the same one who was on earlier this week with Multicultural London English delivery?

I know people call it lazy, because it's Peter Kay and he loves rehashing old material. And there are certainly arguments to made about having a clip show on Friday night prime time on BBC One. But as a programme, Peter Kay's Comedy Vehicle is really well produced.

The clips span the breadth of Kay's TV and stand-up career, it's not just recent stuff. All the archive material, including clips from regional news programmes, is broadcast quality, nothing sourced from YouTube or VHS or the like. Nothing is cropped or given a blurred border to hide the fact it's not widescreen - just a straight 4:3 picture with black bars left and right. And they dig really deep into the archives, with a Granada Tonight interview in tonight's episode that as far as I know hasn't surfaced online and probably hasn't been seen since its original broadcast.

In an age where we get clip shows and even the news just taking low-res clips off TV Ark and YouTube, I really appreciate watching a show where archive material is used respectfully.

To be honest, most of that material is probably from his Special Kay DVD, which is what Comedy Shuffle essentially is except for clips from his sitcoms and live shows mixed in.

Well, my point still stands - it's nice to see a show that doesn't crop anything or take anything from the web.

Appreciate your point about archive stuff but been a very repeat heavy week on BBC1 - only EastEnders was brand new in primetime yesterday and I think half the weeknight schedule has been repeats this week. Actually shows how much the football tournaments lift the schedule.

How many times can Peter Kay rehash his old stuff though, and how many more broadcasters will he flog it too?

Fair play to the marketing team though: you need balls to make an ident like that.
