Kate Walsh, and it's Lancashire.
So was it Natalie Jaque or Kate Walsh announcing tonight - and does anyone know where her accent hails from?

Yes. Anyone who thought she was Scottish need their waffers testing.

Natalie Jaque, she's done BBC Network before.
She's been a BBC announcer at least since the late 90s
Not unless she's turned Scottish. But I am curious about who that announcer is. I believe she introduced the News Report last night too, and she sounds eerily similar to the announcer on duty on the morning of Diana's death.

It's funny that's the best ident BBC One have shown in a long time, so I think that's the way they should go. Quirky graphicy idents with subtle links to the type of programming.
I guess 'Oneness' is already on the way out, because if you're not using it for event like this what do you use it for?

Since when has Hayley Cropper been a CA who sounds nothing like Hayley Cropper?
Was that Julie Hesmondhalgh doing the continuity announcement?

Was thinking precisely the same myself.

I was not expecting a special ident for One Love Manchester, but if anything, it's simple, effective, and definitely captures said theme, as a sign of unity and dedication.
The black background though is slightly eerie though, reminds me of the chilling BBC Television from London ident they used for the death of Diana.
I feel the same way. The Oneness theme doesn't seem to be utilised in the most effective manner; in this case, using it with the One Love Manchester ident would have effectively captured not just the mood of the nation, but also the whole point of the concept.
I think it illustrates the faith that they have on the Oneness theme, really.
