Still don't understand the point of the shaky camerawork. If Bhangra was shot static, or maybe with a jib to slowly drift in altitude to add interest, it would be getting on for as good as being worthy of inclusion into the Rhythm and Movement set (on first impressions).
This is the problem I have with them. It's usually an unsteady camera pointing at s bunch of randoms not doing much. At least with Rhythm & Movement some effort was made. Red as a theme, the same tune but with different musical variations, choreography like in Music Video & Bollywood, a slow motion effect added or sweeping camera movements.
Oneness idents are anti idents to me. They tick every single box about what I hate when ad agencies or uncreative people do idents. Even the earliest BBC idents had creativity and effort put into them like Batwings and the mirror globe.
What a sad state of affairs TV presentation has become.
And before anybody says it's only TV and don't take it seriously. This forum is for exactly that.
With Points of View around the corner, it's bound to be more scathing than ever.
Cavers was aired at the 8.25pm junction tonight. Ident features the cavers walking and then staring blankly at the camera. Echoes my comments as before.
God, it's poor isn't it. At least Bhangra, due shortly, is better.
Cavers is one of the weakest idents I've seen in the set - definitely joins the likes of Exercise Class and Sea Swimmers. Visually, it's a damp squib, but I refer to my previous posts regarding my thoughts on any new Oneness ident that is added to the set.

At least the 'Rhythm and Movement' era was better.

Rhythm and Movement was decent - I liked the idents when they were on air. A very coherent theme which was, a big change for BBC ONE at the time, and an excellent soundtrack. What doomed them was the fact that they replaced the balloon, then the next day, it was slightly marred by the death of the Queen Mother. Public perception didn't bode well as a result.

I was expecting Bhangra to be shown leading into
All Round to Mrs Brown's
. At first glance, I can't see any programme today or tomorrow that it particularly suits. Maybe,
The One Show,
monday evening?
