I love how the regional CAs handle little cock ups like that. They don't beat around the bush, they make light of it. Anybody on Network would've grabbed their emergency script and read it word for word,

Yes especially as in the nations it's their problem to sort out. They're expressing their thoughts on air whereas in London the director is doing the same, but with less polite language (possibly)

It's amazing that I set my expectations so low yet am still continually surprised things like the above are deemed good enough for the nation's flagship, most watched channel.

A circular object in place of an O. Really? The most overused of design tropes and it's not even done particularly well or cleverly. And that's what has passed as creativity for the last 2 and a bit years.

Just out of interest, when was the last time Red Nose Day was particularly funny or original? I'd argue probably around 1999 or 2001. I mean, Catherine Tate and David Walliams again? I dunno, I miss a lot of the risk taking. Maybe it seemed more of an event in the 90s. Now it seems tedious, especially with social media making it seem somehow more...bland.

Shame the balloon was never turned into a giant red nose. Missed opportunity there.

2015 was the best one in years and they've pledged to have more live comedy and events in this year's telethon rather than being over reliant on pre-recorded features.

Maybe I should give it another go. Much like shows like Doctor Who, I've tended to lose interest and then stopped watching. Good that they're going back to live comedy though.

I've seen a fair amount of good content from Comic Relief already this year, it has to be said. The pre-performance skits on Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief were not for everyone, but I did find myself smiling at a fair few. I saw the other day on Twitter also that Comic Relief had recreated a video from the 1980s that was really popular on social media at the end of last year with the original cast (who were children then and adults now), which everywhere I looked seemed to have been taken incredibly well. I am also disproportionately excited for the mini Love Actually sequel...!

We seem to have a new female CA on BBC One Network at the moment. First spotted her last night. Back again this afternoon. I can't pinpoint the accent. Last night, I thought there was a bit of a Scottish twang. Still do - I think. However, her pronunciation of the word 'Praise', when introducing 'Songs of Praise' has thrown me a little - it sounded more north of England.

Yep, it's Kate Walsh (Northern/Lancastrian)

Anyone know who the voiceover is on the Let's Sing and Dance promo? Around the 1:00 mark. I can't decide whether it's someone famous, or a simply network announcer we don't normally hear in Scotland?

Full promo if it helps. There is additional voiceover at the beginning.
