What was the special New Years announcement?

This is going to be BBC One's Christmas 2017 ident: people looking in at a shop Christmas window display.

Because BBC One can't be arsed to make any effort themselves.

I can't believe the day has come when the Rhythm and Movement set actually looks classy. I don't care who this Parr bloke is - these are rubbish.

Have they launched a new look with just 2 idents?

You see, the C4 rebrand of Sept 30 2015 doesn't seem so bad now ! Infact I quite like it (C4's not BBC1's)

No, it still seems bad. Just on a different part of the bad spectrum.

Well these new idents make ITV's, C4's and C5's look incredible.
What on earth were BBC thinking? It looks like next to no effort went into creating these. At least with the Christmas Day idents with members of the public introducing shows, it looked like a bit of thought went into them.

Do we know if these new idents are for good, or are they like the 'Love...' idents and just for the start of the year?

I should have realised that a feature on Points of View or a mention in the Radio Times was the death knell for the package.

This is from the primary channel of our national broadcaster? They should be the ones raising the bar, setting the standard for quality presentation on television. If ITV's idents are Primark then BBC One's are Poundland.

I can't believe these made it to air or that they're anything other than the idents we get just for January. There is nothing to them - no theme, soundtrack or creativity at all. Look at the Salsa ident from the Rhythm era - red theme background, music, camera movement and everyone in time. Yes, it was rubbish but compared to thIs fitness one positively brilliant!

It was a shame the Circles weren't allowed a proper send off with a little montage - or one more showing of some of the discarded idents. And I guess the Obit ident is those swimmers, unless they're going to play it safe and have a reworked endboard as an alternative.

The only saving grace is that the overall presentation (logo, trails etc.) hasn't completely changed so the standard idents could very easily be brought back at any point. Let's hope so.

Wow. They're absolutely terrible. I've seen better idents in The Gallery...

I'm seriously hoping these are just for January! Literally no creativity has gone into these idents at all. Bring back the circles!

The article suggests we're in for the long haul with these - Parr goes on about specific idents to introduce rugby and Wimbledon.

Seriously shameful, shameful presentation. Heads should roll for this.
