BBC Oneness - idents and presentation

Couldn't help but notice this on Twitter:

It seems Scotland isnt playing those ident sting, instead using scot squad and the star.

Noticed it yesterday - not sure what to mean of 'cover-up' - did they deliberately change up the response, or was it kept in secret - considering how tepid the response is...

To shroud the printout of the presentation, so people couldn't see what it said?

I'm beginning to see more of the latter in my post - are they truly that ashamed? That they produced something that was poor? The savagery must be on high levels.

To be fair, I was suspecting what you've outlined in your post.

Somebody must have signed these off, whoever it was, does clearly not have the required vision to continue.

I see there are no longer controller of channels at the BBC, total shambles as usual, can't they just put "normal" people in charge of these things. Why do they always have to have some sort of meaning BS that no one can understand. All we want is a clear ident that shows channel identity and general theme, not difficult BBC. Some guy off the street could have created something better (at least idea wise). How someone can look at these idents and say yes they are good is beyond me. The more I look at them, the more they annoy me. I would honestly just prefer a blank screen with a BBC One logo in the centre. Perhaps I need to find a hobby.

I think it's far more likely whatever was being covered contained potentially sensitive/confidential information. Standard good practice to shield such things from prying eyes/cameras in public spaces.


The contents, whether shame inducing or pats on the back all round, are anyone's guess, outside of those privy to the presentation.

So, three weeks into the refresh, and STILL the Question Time trailer features the old red circle swirl endboard. BBC1 didn't even use that endboard style last year!

If Screenwipe was still on, you can bet Charlie Brooker would've done a typically acerbic segment about these "idents".

Seriously look out the window Trump, Brexit, Le Pen and here we have 127 pages of utter drivel about **** idents. I know this is a presentation forum but still......

Still... what? As you said, it's a presentation forum- we're going to be talking about presentation here...

Indeed. TV Pres is trivial, but is no worse than being interested in knitting. Should everyone stop being interested in things because Trump is president and the French are annoyed with political correctness?
