Who signs off BBC pres? The trail for Question Time not only had the circle animation on the BBC One logo during the trail, but it also had the old plain red circle motif endboard. With a cheap looking font. Why don't they check all these things?

And, the This Week trail used the old 2016 fairy light circle end board. So, still inconsistent.

I feel like your signature sort of contradicts your point though. Those endboards are fully functional and almost identical bar a few elements.

Signature now changed! It was necessary.

The trailers for the life political shows are always in a world of their own, they just cobbled something together that looks almost right.

Like when the BBC News Channel or the BBC regions used to produce slides for Panorama or Inside Out and they would use the wrong logo, wrong font, capitals not sentence case, wrong colours etc etc. you'd expect better standards on network BBC1 though.

You'll have to look to BBC NI... where the daily trail at 6pm on BBC Two NI, promoting BBC Newsline, has been using the new BBC One trail branding since the start of January. Wink

Two points, Where peter Fogg?

Peter Fogg wasn't middle class enough to make the cut.

The BBC should be, and has been, moving things out of London. So here's an idea - why don't we give Northern Ireland network presentation responsibilities? All problems solved.

"Right, so the theme is, it's like reknowned photographer Martin Parr is taking a photo, only he isn't, it's a video, so it's like you're posing for a photo, only you're not, so move around a bit and muck about, but not too much."

They do remind me of that prank that went around a few years ago with people posing for a picture with a mobile phone when it was actually recording video. So you have that awkward rictus pose and through clenched teeth saying "have you taken it yet... can I move now... err c'mon on, hurry up!"

They're considerably better than the actual idents

Still bloody awful though.

Still bloody awful though.

At least for the moment this set could last for this year, judging how the idea of Oneness was to capture communities coming together in 2017, and the repeated references by BBC PR, that it's supposed to be a year long campaign. It makes sense considering the turmoil of last year - but as a wider slogan for BBC ONE it struggles to keep its appeal.

I was thinking earlier about the idents and how they could be improved, and I remembered the falling or zooming 'o' that BBC Creative seemingly fell in love with last year... which makes this set even more out of place because they're still using the falling o in promos (as far as I know)...
I then thought how this mess is supposed to be in the style of a photograph and I'm thinking something that could've made this set so much better is to have the ident of say, the exercise women as a still to start with and then the o falls into place- when it does that, the ident bursts into action and begins to play (e.g the women start to dance) and it's not a photograph anymore, the BBC One logo is now whole.

A change like that would make this lacklustre set into something a little (tiny) bit more exciting...

Yes, a picture coming to life is something I could see working with a bit of thought put into the concept and some decent post production.
