ABC1 seems to have had a little revamp.

Obviously only the daytime ident has been played so far, but the music is much slicker than the previous theme. Still sounds like they found it behind the demo button of a cheap keyboard from Argos, though.
The sting leading to the ads puts me in mind of the Weather intro on ITV Local news.

Graphics are similar. OK, they're the same just different colours - surprisingly dark for the 'daytime' ident. The program trailers seem to have adopted a 3D rocking cube style rather than the sliding flat squares of the past. They seem to have ditched the (recorded) older male announcer with a chirpy younger woman.

Let's see what the evening and late night brings...

Poor old Paul Coia! Back to the announcers waiting room, bless him!

Is it me or does ABC1 seems to revamp often, maybe it's a seasonal thing?

I wish this channel was 24 hours on Freeview

All the new promo's they've been broadcasting for the past few days are the same colour, so I don't think they have any primetime or overnight versions yet (unless they will be using the old idents). I myself like this little revamp, especially is the daytime and summer idents were starting to really annoy me. I hope the primetime one is also redone as it was a little over the top for me. As for overnight idents, I hope they keep the old set or have one just as good, I found that ident nice and relaxing.

It may just be me, but I haven't noticed any now and next promo's either, so prehaps they haven't made a new version of these. The abc1 website has also changed to the new colour scheme.

Ditto. The overnight blue ident was/is one of my favourite idents!

The new Now and Next was on about 15 mins ago, and it's an improvement over the old one. They seem to have ditched the later tho, not that it's a problem.

Any caps, I see its a brown and turquise theme they've went for from the website ?

Interesting. I really like the promos, they're not that different, but it's a great change, and does look significantly different.

As for the music, I'm not sure at the moment.

And the rest of the graphics seem to be sharper as though they are High Definition on a normal TV, if you see what I mean.

It's a shame that they can't overhaul completely with a total move away from the squares, perhaps more to the circle design, but its a good change, anyone that refreshes it image is good in my books.

This must be the 3rd refresh of the squares look now.

As for a capture, you can download one I took from www.orryverducci.co.uk/2006abc1.wmv

Sorry about that, it's encoded with the title from my previous capture (even tho I changed it). I'll upload a corrected version now.

Seems to be an annual refresh thing, though keeping the same basic look each time!

Loved the channel when it launched and when it went 24/7 on Sky it did feel like we were losing out - but my opinion has completly changed now!

It's the same handful of programmes repeated ad nausium, and there is nothing in the evening that Freeview viewers lose out on, especially as so much of the drama is rumoured for the chop.

Having said that though the situation might improve if they could get into primetime on Freeview, even if it's just through till say 11pm.
