This set was launched to coincide with the election coverage that shall be starting shortly. A massive newswell has always been a feature of ABC News' election coverage. They've actually used it, or one like several times in years past. In fact this one is a bit smaller than the version they used 8 years ago. They constructed a 2 story data wall out of several of these monster-sized projection screens. Expect to see a larger desk created especially for the election as well as presenter Peter Jennings and other analysts standing infront of the wall showing data and other election returns. It remains to be seen what NBC and CBS will premiere as the election approach.

You get ABC News 'across the pond'?
I'm from Milwaukee, WI (which you may notice from the 2 seconds of a news promo at the beginning of the new World News Tonight open)

We get World News Tonight at about 1.30am (GMT) - I'm not a great lover of US news programming, but I do find this very watchable, and usually watch it when it's on.

Do you get the ABC network? Or does it [World News Tonight] air on some other kind of network?
NG
ABC World News Tonight is broadcast on the BBC's domestic TV News channel - BBC News 24 at 0130 (well nearer 0140 cos we don't have ad breaks!) It is only broadcast once - and is billed as a chance for UK viewers to see how news is being reported to a US domestic audience.
ABC and the BBC are partners in some aspects of their newsgathering - so I think it was logical for the BBC to show an ABC, rather than NBC or CBS, bulletin on their network.
The ABC network is not directly broadcast in Europe - and neither is CBS. However we do have a CNBC Europe channel - which carries some US NBC programmes (Leno and Conan at weekends, and NBC Nightly News weekdays?)

Oh I see. No, it airs on BBC News 24.
We get Fox News tho - for what thats worth...
NBC Nightly News is shown on CNBC Europe, and CBS News is shown on Sky News. We also get CNN International - does that carry any US news programming? Oh and MSNBC is occasional shown on CNBC Europe too.
By the way, what time is WNT on ABC? I can never find it in the schedules.
