New logo and possibly name coming for S4C

Well yes, possibly so -- mind you I can only think of the mouse and stapler which fit this new plainer scheme.

These new promos match the sport ones used for some time, and other presentation [mind you I have seen sport promos in this new style also]

S4C have around 30 or so idents, yet seem to use but four of them all the time.

Before the new sport ident last year, the last new ident was in mid 2003 [vacuum cleaner] -- and before that the awful egg cup and speaker ones, two of the ones they remain bizarrely keen on.

S4C really is a uniquely odd station.

I was going to say, why on earth don't they use all the idents that they have? Why keep repeating the same select few? The latest of the rarely-shown idents that I saw, was around mid-December; a measly 8-second showing of the short version Extinguisher.

It's worth noting though, that *some* of the idents are currently not in use because of the season: Take a look back to the Summer of '05; the Fan ident, and even moreso the Lawnmower, were in far more frequent use; and once the hot weather went away, so did those ID's.

Oh, and I hate Egg now, because of it's overuse. It's not even that great an ident when compared to those before it.

I haven't seen all the idents in sound and motion, but from the ones I have seen, I only really like the Sousaphone and Standpipe ones.

The information pages that kick-in around 10 minutes before first startup of the day still maintain 2005's look at this point.

Another rarely seen ident, short version of Iron, was shown today, but was only about 8 seconds duration

Wouldn't using a specific word like Pedwar produce problems when the word has to change due to mutation?

Welsh speakers would be happy for it to suddenly become Bedwar in the correct contect, I suppose, but it would look a bit odd to the casual viewer; if a Welsh channel has such a thing.
