why were "five" able to show some classic thames programs a few weeks back? Also why do ukgold show the bill now thames doesn't own any of it, as in times past? Will/can any broadcaster show regular thames programs in the future?
Thanks,

1) The Bill has always been shown on UK Gold, even when Thames owned some of it, but as Thames pulled out later on, they kept The Bill as it does well for the ratings on UK Gold, so it would be silly if they got rid of it. Also remember that it's the only Thames programme they show that is still being made, so they're not going to run out of episodes for now.

2) Five showed the Thames programmes, as Thames's parent company is a major shareholder in Five, so they can get easy access to it. They also prove popular in ratings, hence why they've been doing it for 3 years running.

Any broadcaster can buy the rights to show any Thames programme as long as those rights are not already owned by someone else.
