New ITV1 Idents

Believe me I have watched ITV1 London and it is very weird to get used to this break flash being in between, though it looks very good and gives ITV1 a good look, you can't get used to it, as I assume most people have got used to black screens in between the breaks on ITV1. But I assume that LNN has always had the facilites for this, as ITV2 used to do the same thing until a couple of years ago.

I doubt that SMG will do anymore regional presenter idents the only one they don't use anymore is the one of Angus Simpson on STV,SMG axed Angus back in April after 17 yrs on Scotland Today and all the other presenters are still there on both stations, there are quite a few of the local idents .

I would think that SMG will take the new celeb idents from the network but rebrand them as Grampian / Scottish TV ,they wouldn't try that trick just yet although i do fear that ITV 1 Scotland is not to far off .

STV have been transmitting a couple of NPU trailers this week with the ITV 1 branding there was one on last night for millionaire but it didn't have the ITV 1 log on it but the voice was from NPU .

At the moment SMG are to busy trying to see if and when they can flog the studios at cowcaddens and make a fortune ,there has been quite a few major developments of property in that area over the past couple of years and like Grampian they just want to sell make a huge profit and move to some non discript industrial estate ,they realy don't need the studio space that much the latest trend of programmes that are produced from SMG are not studio based the Talent which was on last Friday night followed yes wait for it Carol Smilie around ( YAWN) and showed how hectic her life is as a tv presenter .

I didn't see the wire frame as such, although it was only a brief look, but I did see the new break caption during the late film last night. I actually thought it looked quite good - the text is still blue/yellow combinations although seem to be much darker colours and now centred in the middle of the screen with the blocks in the background.

Certainly be interesting to see if they've re-done the idents tomorrow morning.

It sounds like they've re done the whole thing, though not got rid of the branding. They have carried the branding forward tweaking it rather than changing it totally. It makes a nice change when things refresh their looks, unless they are horrible after.

Such as channel 5 used to do back in the day where they used to tweak endboards, captions and idents; where as now we get the same endboards followed by people with the word five, though there's no entertainment on five anymore; the only things worth watching are the wright stuff and terry & gaby!

, until i saw what 'five' had to offer.

I still dont see why channel 5 changed to 'five' they easily made their old logo look classy andgorgeous compared to what they have now. And if you look at the old presentation stuff from when they began, it was always refered to as five anyway. In the original idents they even had the word five along with the main logo.

Will they "new look" appear at 9.25, or before the Evening News?

Or will we really not be able to tell? Will it barely be even a cosmetic makeover?

I've seen more use made of next slides over the last couple of weeks. Perhaps they'll make a reappearance?

Well ITV have changed their promo endboards every year at the start of September since the NPU started (besides the year it changed to ITV1 when they launched in August and last year when they changed in October), so a possible different look could appear immediately at 9.25am, then we may get a new ident...

It’s anyone’s guess when the new look will appear. The best advice is to have videos ready at 9:25 just to be ready if it happens.
As for next slides, well I really hope they come back. Carlton had them and they were very good. As Granada North never had them, I have not experienced the full power of next slides, but watching the last few days of Carlton, I tasted them and they were good. If ITV1 would start being like Carlton was, it would make it a good channel. Being Lazy like the Granada way makes it look naff!

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned the Lucy Granada Ident, well who else gets peed off with that one? For a start on the long version, the music is out of Sync. At the point when the itv Granada logo should form up, its still on the last frame with Lucy smiling, and the logo forms up when the music starts to go to the 'dull' bit with not much beat, as that’s when the talking starts. I with Granada would sort it out! As for regional Idents, ITV1 need more. Granada for example, had 7 - now lost 2 so with only 5 left (and 3 of them from the same set and music, the other 2 from different sets and music, we don’t get the yellow/blue wall anymore in the north west, as the Tracy Shaw one was axed) I feel more regional idents should be made. Each region should have 2 or 3 with presenters from the region, then 7 or so with ITV Celebs from the area. Who else is sick of seeing the same ones at regional program time?? If I see the guy from Clod Feet in the pink shirt on Granada again, I will be very Mad! But hay, come to think of it, Granada are not bothered about having lots of idents, as they always used the short hearts ones forever and ever boring us in the North to death!

Finally, I have always wondered why ITV2 don’t have a breakflash? I know it has 2 breakbumpers (One at start, 1 at end of ads) but It does come from the south bank right so IS capable of breakflashes right? Or is ITV2 using the junk like GMG North and are not able to do them?

soz if this has already been mentioned, but a short trailer today with the new series of heartbeat next sunday, the squares are the same but seem a little shinier. The gradient in them is slightly different, not a big change for a bit better.

They look nice being shiny and gold. Not too keen on the outlines of squares; id prefer 3 blue ones with the yellow there, or transparent like perspex squares. It reminds me a lot of itv2 at the mo; black background and yellow squares!

BTW. Speaking of itv, I like how they are showing catch phrase; but its nick weir (great host) with a big prize, rather than mark curry, no audience and ribbish prizes!

Oh....Oh.....well yes, it is a little ITV2. The clouds with the 3 yellow/1 blue look better. anyway, 1 caption should not put me off the new look. I will wait and see tomorrow.
