Wasn't Creature Comforts a Channel 4 thing?

No - it was for a set of commericals that everyone thinks is British Gas, but is actually some electricity company.

It was originally a Channel 4 "Fourmation" and wasn't anything to do with the Electricity Board, but then the Electricity Board was impressed with them enough to commission a special set for their advertising - "HEAT ELECTRIC", "COOK ELECTRIC", "SHOWER ELECTRIC", etc. etc. which as said above stick in everyone's mind as being for "British Gas". I always thought such people were stupid, until I remembered that these days most people get their electricity from British Gas and their Gas from their local electricity company (or Scottish Power, even if they're in Kent).

And soon everybody will be using their mobile "phone" to play games and take pictures, watches to make phone calls, PlayStations to play DVDs, insuring them all with Tesco, and getting personal loans from a Water Company.

Aaaahhh, smell the heady whiff of progress. What an enlightened and sense-based world we now live in Laughing

While on the subject of ITVs idents, why before the news and at nighttime during ad breaks is it always the short or long Blue graphic ident? Where has the lovely yellow one gone? I only saw it on the first day. The blue one is getting boring all the time!

Incidentally, talking of "progress", when I was at school, my maths teacher had a twenty year old Casio calculator and needed only his numbers and two function buttons to do the same calculation as I did with many more function buttons (including the shift key) on my modern day Casio. As you can guess, he did it in half the time too! Now that's progress for you!!

So what do people think of the new ITV 1 idents? I personally think the backgrounds and music are better. I really like the one with Melanie Sykes. God!!..she is like the new Davina!! Laughing

ITV1 have a new series of Aardman's creature comforts soon Yes, apparently 13 x 10 minute episodes are to be aired in the Autumn during prime time on ITV1. Not sure where they'll fit these into the schedule.

Odd scheduling that, I wasn't expecting them to go out at prime time during the week. ITV don't have many 15 minute programmes do they, surely it won't have an ad break in between ?

All those advertisers desperate to buy air time. Carlton and Granada will have an ad break surely. Those 2-can squeeze an ad break in anywhere, come on folks, that’s why News at 10 will be at five past after the 9:45 episode.

Notice that last night's serious factual programme came with scrolling credits on a roller, something that is very rare on ITV thesedays

Also notice it seems that 'Next' captions are everywhere thesedays on ITV1, used throughout Daytime after almost every programme!

Yes, I like the use of the "Next" slides, a useful presentation aid, I just wish the ITV one's carried an image of the programme, rather than that NEXT animation.
