Sorry if I've missed in this long thread, but it doesn't look like Carlton in the Westcountry's break flashes have changed yet?

I know we were one of the last regions to get the break flashes in the first place.

I don't think the breakflashes have changed. I wouldn't know though, we don't get them up here, just black. Sad

They've only changed very minimally - the squares have a slightly different shine to them.

Id like to see the break flashes on itv1 like channel 5's. Rather than moving closer, id like to see each square flash one by one, fade in then out left to right!

I'm sorry but the music on the ident just shown into Tonight was awful! Sounded very tacky and americanised. The squares are looking increasingly plasticky to me too...

Is it just me or does the blue squares animation on the trail end-boards remind you of flashing police-car lights? Wouldn't look out of place in titles for The Bill...

it looks to me like a new look and not just a refresh. The ECP is a little messy but apart from that - absolutley great! Has anyone got any more videos of any of the idents?

I have just seen a few idents and promos just now on the Wellington Video Wall. The Video Wall, first erected in 1999 is used to showcase pornography and public information films, and more recently old episodes of Central Weekend Live.

These idents are nothing special. I would go as far as to say they are very 1990's. Computer generated shines and sparkles look like there were knocked up in an afternoon in 3D Studio Max. The studio set used by the new celeb idents seems a to reenforce the brand and are much better than those previously, the promos are fairly Yorkshire TV-Ballistix-Made on the train on the way to a strip club or something. Nothing special at all.

My favourite bit of the promo is when Katie Derham claps in time with the music. It's such a natural scene.

If they're not special then post some images of what would be special in the mock forums. It's a damn good improvement on the previous looks.

Adam, thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I know you had a choice. As I have already specified, the idents aren't really what I would call special, the whole collection of computer generated animations could have been created in an afternoon. There isn't really anything that special about them that instantly jumps out and says "Wow!"

Here are some images that I have stolen from a popular website called thetvroom.com. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but there is the link for your reference, and I suggest you add it to your browser favourites. The instructions for doing so can be found be selecting Help in your browser and following the simple on-screen instructions. Here are some examples of branding and idenfication that will last the test of time, and will not look tacky is 6 months time.

Just an example of many fine idents created over the years, and if anybody thinks that the sterile rubbish released by ITV today comes even close to any of those above, then I'm afraid you are wrong.
