No. Central South and Meridian North are closing to form Thames Valley. Central East's coverage area will remain intact, while some of Central West's area will be absorbed into HTV West.

What you won't see (or so I'm told) is an ITV1 Thames Valley ident for example.
I should imagine you will see one before ITV Thames Valley regional programmes. Every other region does, although I doub't you'd see the word
Thames Valley
underneath the ITV1 logo.
But Thames Valley will take Meridian programmes so it will most likely be Meridian if they show a local ident.
Well really it wouldn't be very professional if they did that... people in the ex-Central South area would be seeing "Meridian" and "Thames Valley"... they'd be confused to hell. It's easy enough to change the ident; all regional announcements are recorded so its possible for it to have seperate continuity to Meridian, although if they wanted they could just boycott the name "Meridian" on announements provided the names "Thames Valley" and "Meridian" are seen on screen in those regions.
No, AFAICT it will be a seperate brand. All regions show regional idents BTW, Granada's last was an hour ago (just they way you said "if they show a regional ident"...)

Tell that to Londoners.
London don't have a regional name anymore, just like Wales - IIRC, right??? As ITV1
IS
ITV London and it is the regions that opt-out of the National service (hence ITV1 London is also on Astra2 (Sky Satellite) no matter which region one lives in)
Seeing as ITV regional news is generally not preceeded by any ident whatsoever, I doubt that ITV1 idents with
Thames Valley
written on them will ever exist.
So, either the Thames Valley will get
Meridian
-branded idents before non-news regional programmes, or the idents will have no suffix written on them at all.
I'd have thought that the latter would be more likely, (A) partly out of respect to viewers in the ex-Central part of the patch, to whom the "Meridian" name would seem irrelevant, and (B) partly as a further move towards metioning the old regional company name as little as possible/not at all.

He's right you know. But I wouldn't want to see
London
underneath the ITV1 logo as I hate the name. I find it controversal refering to it now as ITV London as there are already poor souls living in places like Surrey, North Sussex and North West Kent who have to watch it as it's their default regional setting even though the news is all London, London, London and it can p*ss off those living outside the Greater London Boundary.
Same as BBC London, although they try to be superior to London Tonight by reporting in different areas away from London even though this doesn't happen that much.
It's interesting to see that Robert Williams, owner of TV & Radio Bits is also against the idea of having areas outside the Greater London boundary being lumped into London. I second that motion as well.

Yes, me here - it's notable that you don't normally get regional idents on BBC1 in the London region either - network announcements are used into the news, and a BBC1 London ident is only ever seen into 'Inside Out'.
As I live in Surrey I don't live in a region, so I actually prefer seeing a network ident instead of a regional one.
As I said earlier - the plan as I last heard it was for Meridian idents to be used...as it will be part of the Meridian region!
Its confusing to know whether this new region will be a proper region or just a sub news region. I think it will be just a sub region as apart from the Thames Valley News/Tonight there will be no difference to Meridian, so its technically a Meridian sub reigon.
