New ITV News Channel and ITV1 bulletins

The ITV News on ITV1 is the most detailed and my choice any day. When the ITV News Channel lauched I was glad to see the look had been used. However, some time later I am thinking to myself what could be done to improve the ITV News bulletins on both ITV1 and the News Channel.

Personally, I believe a unified ITV News brand could be used for all ITV1 bulletins and the same for the News Channel. Talking about the ITV News Channel, I think that a single programme for news, sports, weather and the rest should be broken down into seperate sections and should be listed on EPG's.

The previous ITV2 DOG was the best in my opinion, I think that the ITV News Channel should incorporate a dog like this that doesn't go away, like BBC News 24 and then have a clock which dissapears suring the break. I believe that ITV News also needs to become in line with the "squeare" design - either the ITV2 black, blue and orange/yellow or the ITV1 blue, ornage/yellow.

Haven't the ITC already said that broadcasters, during the breaks, should get rid of anything that has the potential to obscure important text during the commercial breaks? VH1 Classic fell into this trap I recall in 2000 and ended up making a new semi-transparent DOG for use in the commercials only. Their DOG, during the videos, couldn't sit still either.

If you remember the old (and current) ITV2 DOG is transparent and would not cover and dark text or get in the way... too much
