Well they shoved that in after the negative reaction from even the new fans about killing Jill. The imposter thing is blown apart by the "imposter" coming clean in an emotional moment with Jill that she only returned because her "mother had money" if an imposter was being offered hotel shares on a plate they'd hardly come out with something that would mess that up.

But that was all wrong anyway, making out that Sarah Jane hadn't seen Jill since her wedding to Adam in 1983, when Sarah Jane was in the show in 1987, and Jill often went to see her in Germany.

oh I forgot how fabulous that all was

Its funny, it just doesn't make much sense.

Although Angela going home to bake a cake.. highlight for me, and Sherrie Hewson in general.
