Talking of ITV daytime - It was reported in 'The Sun' last week that Bradley Walsh is the latest person to try and fill the void left by Paul O'Grady. From February he will host '1 Piccadilly' from a purpose built studio at the 'London Pavilion'.

am i missing something - why the rolleyes?
I wondered that. Im looking forward to Bradley's show - id rather watch him than Sharon Osbourne anyday!
As long as the show is done live, not point doing a chat type show next to Paul's if it is not going to be live etc, anyway Neighbours beats Paul I think?

17:30pm This new daytime soap - if it was a half hour one. (could be a repeat off 13:00pm edition ). And battle with Nieghbours ?
Ive seen a few episodes of MK 1 on DVD and it was good, however not a patch on 70s/80s Corrie.
Yes Corrie wobbly sets and fluffed lines were just as bad as Crossroads in the 1970s.
The writing in Coronation Street was far better usually (there are some episodes of Crossroads that have very good scenes) but thats really down to the fact Coronation Street had more time in those days to write episodes, the two episodes compared to Crossroads making four a week.
But the technical quality of both soaps is pretty much the same - although Crossroads had a OB before Corrie, and was of course doing the far more risky stories that Brookside took to the further level later, while Corrie tended to be a bit more safe.
And for a show to air at 5.15pm / 6pm and 6.30pm and get 16-18 million viewers thats pretty good. If it had been shown at 7pm, it probs would have beaten Corrie more often. Looking at the old ratings, usually two episodes of Crossroads beat at least one episode of Corrie, although Corrie usually had the singular highest rating episode. So both on par really.
Still, I think Crossroads was ruined by Carlton so hasn't much chance of returning.

IMHO Neighbours would win. If ITV is ever to win the slot then you idea should be reversed and let it be the only showing of the soap - with a omnibus repeat at the weekends on ITV2.
Anyway, ITV should bring back Shortland Street as well as having its own home-grown soap. SS was only dropped due to Charles Allen wanting ITV1 to have nothing but UK produced programmes 98% of the time on ITV1 - funny how he changed his mind after the mergers!!!!!
