not more new idents

oh well we all knew it was gonna happen and i suppose it was only time before new idents were created for ITV1 again

but this might not sound as exciting as it first appears

just like the addition of a '1' to the ITV logo when ITV1 was created there is now going to be just one web address for all ITV companies itv.com and this is reflected in the new batch of idents!

Exactly the same as before but now where you local url might have been www.carlton.com or www.htvwest.com they are all replaced with a nifty animation of itv.com

so when these goto air next friday i think it would mean the third change of idents for HTV in a couple of months and with some Christmas idents coming up soon as well - its looking like HTV must be near breaking a record for the different amounts of idents for one station in a single year! lol - does anyone know the actual amount of idents that HTV have had this year?

What does the 'nifty' animation actually do ? Is it being added to the granada hearts idents too ?

It will only be temporary anyway as we all know that ITV1 is working on a new identity for next year.

The URL probably just flickers and glows like the carlton address does on its idents.

its hard to describe this nifty animation but its nothing to get that excited over! ;/

it reminds me of the effect they used in the 1989 idents where the image was stretched and the different lines morph into place to eventually make the image - but then you are correct in saying that it then has that Carlton glow as used previously but if anythin as the graphic is so small anyway anyone without 20:20 vision wont be able to read the web address anyway!

I suspect the new idents - I mean totally new idents, will be released when ITV launches on DSat.

Too right! They said New Year rather than November. I can't see them making a fuss over DSat - especially if a deal has now been secured to stick your ITV1 region on ch.103. It's not like they need to make up a load of trailers saying 'watch <name of station> on channel 8xx' or whatever anymore.

Will HTV change their logo to the Gill Sans type to fit in with Carlton's branding? Perhaps they will add the Carlton star as well. What do other peopl think?

Including SMG stations and independents? Surely UTV'd object?

UTV won't be using these. They have their own ISP which they want to promote, not ITV.com

talking about idents - did anybody else see the bbc two close down on 28/10/01, they used an unusual ident, i couldnt make my mind up wether it was one of those trailer animations.  if its an ident its not new (has no URL), and therefore shouldnt have been shown (yet it looked widescreen) - im confused - anyone have any answers
