I'm in the West Midlands now, and I don't care about what is happening in Shropshire, Staffordshire or in Birmingham etc.

There should be a region for the Central Midlands- Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire.

Coventry has far much more in common with Leicestershire and Northamptonshire than it does with Shrewbury, Stoke and Stafford, Wolverhampton, Worcester and Wrexham- all are supposidly covered by Central West.

I know my comments go against the political view, but it's true for us who live here.

Can't visit Skegness, an EAST MIDLANDS seaside town on the EAST coast and watch a programme called 'Look NORTH'. It's stupid!

I think the new show should be called 'BBC North East East Midlands East Coast Tonight'.

Just a couple of points, M D R:

1) You would get a region like your suggested "Central Midlands" area if Lincolnshire was removed from the East Midlands political region and from the BBC East Midlands Today/Central News East area.

2)" Skegness, an EAST MIDLANDS seaside town on the EAST coast" - this is a contradiction in terms. A Midland county can't have a coastline. The Midlands region is a land-locked region and this nonsense about Lincolnshire being in the Midlands should end right now!

I believe that Lincolnshire's "official" ITV station is YTV, with Central overlap. As I mentioned earlier most of the Belmont relays, including those in Lincolnshire, transmit BBC Y&L/YTV, apart from Lincoln Central which is a BBC Midlands/YTV split, so in theory it doesn't form part of the Midlands region anyway.

Katherine, I'd just like to make a few points. As I have said before I live in York and have been able to see Look North (Leeds), although because of reception difficulties in uni accommodation, LN (Newcastle) and Tyne Tees are more watchable in terms of reception. However, I shall cut to the chase:

1) Harry and Christa get on my nerves and I'm glad I get a better picture of Look North (Newcastle). If I lived in East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire or North Norfolk, I'd be glad I'd be living in a seperate region from Leeds and I'd be glad to see the back of Harry and Christa.

2) What's wrong with Helen Philpot? I'm sure she's better than Ian White who is just a continuity announcer made good. He seems to me to be quite boring.

3) So what if most people in the new Hull-based BBC TV Region won't be able to see Peter Levy anymore? He's not very good anyway. He's abolutely rubbish on the autocue and he reads it way too fast. Stick to radio, Levy, for goodness sake!!

Also bear in mind that not all relays transmit the same channels as their parent. Lincoln, for example, is a sub of Belmont and carries YTV; however its BBC signal comes from Waltham, so this would need to be addressed before the new region took to the air or else you would have viewers in Lincolnshire watching the new Hull programme while in Lincoln itself you would be watching Midlands Today!

Well the Lincoln relay should transmit the new Hull-based programme (Look East (Hull)) when the studios are finally open. Even now it could be changed to show Look North with the Hull opt-out naturally. BTW I think you mean East Midlands Today not Midlands Today.

The thing you've got to remember with the Lincoln relay is it serves a tiny amount of viewers compared to the likes of Belmont and Waltham. It's there to fill the gaps in reception left thanks to the hill in the city. If you look around the town, then most of the aerials point to the two main transmitters, not the relay, even in the city centre.

(First proper post by the way, hiya!)

So you live in Lincoln, Adam. Why do you get Central East and East Midlands Today instead of YTV and Look North (to be replaced by Look East (Hull))?

Out of choice? Because you didn't fancy redirecting the aerial from pointing to the Waltham transmitter to Belmont?

I'd prefer repointing my aerial in the reverse order! I might do that, and get East Midlands Today when this Hull service is started! After all, I now have Central on Sky, so makes sense to co-ordinate both analogue and digital to get the same stuff, even if the Central version's slightly different.

Well, lots of you know how disfunctional my regional services are!

I should get Leeds Look North by default. I do.
I also get Hull Look North which I don't want - Pisspot does my head in!

I should get Calendar South by deafult. I get Leeds and cannot get a signal for Calendar South!

And to top that, my NE News signal is better than the Calendar South one!

Yep, I'm at uni here, and the only time I've recieved Look North/Calendar was when we had analogue NTL in my previous house (and I have to admit making sure I watched the Lunchtime Look North!).

In halls in the first year we picked up Waltham (and most of them still do, so do all the TV's on the Uni's TV network), and the flats where I'm living now does too (thanks to the city hall blocking the signal from Belmont)

Don't be shy about watching the lunchtime Look North - I make sure I do every day!! Peter and Paul ROCK! And good for your city hall blocking the Devil's Airwaves!

As I've said before I'm at uni here in York and because of other uni buildings, I get a poor signal of Emley Moor (LN Leeds/YTV - the preferred choice in the city of York) which is sometimes watchable and sometimes not. I therefore get a much better (still fairly poor) signal of Bilsdale (LN Newcastle/Tyne Tees).

If I had the choice between Emley and Belmont, I'd choose Belmont because I can't stand the Look North (Leeds) presenters - they're irritating!

If I lived in the Belmont area, I'd cheer at the thought of no more Look North (Leeds) and I wouldn't be able to wait for the new Hull studio to open and transmit Look East (Hull).

Must just be a thing about uni buildings and bad reception, i can see the transmitter for Siren FM but can I get a signal on it? Don't be stupid! Same as all the others except Lincs FM. Thank god for 6music over the web!
