is top gear filmed the day before transmission or a few days earlier
It was filmed on Wednesday, as mentioned in the show tonight when they did the "congratulations/commiserations Lewis Hamilton...we don't really know" speech!
Anybody else finding this crusade to clinically analyse everything that is said on the BBC in order to find somebody who might be offended by it really tedious?
The BBC spokesman quoted by the Mail is spot on:
Quote:
Meanwhile a BBC spokesman said: 'The vast majority of Top Gear viewers have clear expectations of Jeremy Clarkson's long-established and frequently provocative on-screen persona.
'This particular reference was used to comically exaggerate and make ridiculous an unfair urban myth about the world of lorry driving, and was not intended to cause offence.'
It would seem they're also editing some of the comments submitted to suite their argument. Probably a good job Harry Hill isn't on the BBC else they would be complaining about the 'lack of viagra' joke during TV Burp. Maybe they should be complaining about the irresponsibility of transporting a bundle of hay and a plugged in electric heater or the references to "gentleman's reading material".

Usually their right wing tripe is only suffered/consumed by the couple of million who read the paper. Its only with the recent debacle that their finger-wagging is being noticed by normal people.
Ignore it - as you would with the type of person who sits at the end of the bar spouting this guff.
Best if they stop getting quoted on this forum too, I think.

Top Gear studio segments (inc Star in a res price car) are all recorded on either the Wednesday or occasionally Thursday afternoon/evening prior to the showing on Sunday. AIUI all other segments are filmed in advance of the series commencing.
The problem with the BBC is they have never handled this sort of thing very well. It is much easier to navel gaze and beat themselves up adding to the Mail propaganda.
Its time that they employed a new policy. How about wrong footing the Mail by having some prime time BBC1 programming expose on how many people the Mail have offended. There must be a couple of series in that.
This is Top Gear, people don't expect anything less than some good old British humour. It's a shame certain organisations can't just relax a little sometimes and have to always go on the hunt for more blood.
So am I the only one who was a tad disappointed with Sunday's show? I loved Jez's Porsche/Lambo review and the Parkinson interview but I found the task almost unwatchable.
TG walk a very fine line between believability and making their tasks look completely staged. The trucks task was just far too obviously staged for me to enjoy and for the first time ever when watching TG I was thinking how much longer is this going to go on for. It came across like they were trying too hard to c*ck up basically.
Before someone says 'well dur, it looks staged because it is staged' I have always known this about TG but I put this in the back of my mind and try to enjoy the show for what it is: 3 guys testing cars in a very entertaining manner. But Sunday's task just seemed so unnatural and every little thing appeared to have been set up.
I really hope next week's show will turn things around.

The star lap of the track is recorded on the morning of the show taping in the afternoon - you can tell, as the footage is not graded to hell and back in post production.
