What do people think of the new Friday night line-up (sponsored by Nintendo DS) on Channel 4?
Firstly Meet the Magoons. I thought this was very good actually and certainly one of the best new comedies of recent years. It was also quite refreshing to see a comedy that just set out to be funny, nothing else, and achieved it!
Secondly we have Balls of Steel. It's basically a hidden camera show / stunt show / competition - and if you've not heard of it, it's the one that squirted Tom Cruise!
The premise is six of the team do outrageous stunts - and the audience votes for who has the greatest Balls of Steel. We had Alex Zane hosting a spoof quiz in which the buzzers were controlled by the producers and Olivia Lee pulling childish tricks while interviewing celebrities and the Dirty Sanchez blokes going through pain!
The highlight though for me was the Annoying Devel doing his dog **** maze in central London! Childish, but very funny! Criminally though Alex Zane won the first show.
And finally Bromwell High. My weak point of the evening personally - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't goodenough to attract me back next week!
Throw in repeats of the excellent Max and Paddy and Friday nights are back on top on C4.
A couple more points. Firstly tonight Virgin Mobile had (live?) ads running throughout the night offering the chance to win tickets to the V Festival every hour.
And secondly - anyone know if any future series of My New Best Friend, The Pilot Show, Make My Day or Distraction are planned?
