The new enhanced BBC World

Seeing the promo for the new 'enhanced' BBC World, I'm still confused as to what's going to happen. All I know is that those of us in the UK will see an hour of it on BBC 1 and BBC News 24 at 5.00 am everyday.

Anyone know any other details?

The only thing thats changing is the fact that a part of the studio will be used for 'The World Today in the UK' every morning at 5.00am. This will include World News, Sport, Business etc. Thats why they are renevating the studio. Nothings happening to ordinary BBC World News, AFAIK!

Hey Rob, You keep on saying that they will only renew 'part' of the studio, and I think I know which you are on about but I don't see why don't they just do both sides as they are both crap.
Yes I know this is a little strong, but I've had BBC World for ages now and the idents etc... may be Ok, the studio is the worst ever.

The programme will be originating from BBC World from the World studio with World presenters and a new World theme.

What do you mean by a new world theme?

It's a new re-mix of the News theme.
There'll be slightly different graphics as well.
As to the set - I think the Sport Today set looks very classy.

Nicky, will it be the cream and red, like BBC World News, or completely different? Also, will it use a different headline vamp?

Again, when you say 'it', do you mean a complete change for every hour, or only the special 1 hour that UK viewers will get?

I saw the promo last night at about 2 am...so no, I couldn't capture it, and yes, like Gary, I'm utterly confused.

I'm a subscriber to BBC On Air magazine, which gives details of the coming month on BBC World, BBC Prime and BBC World Service Radio. I recieved the September issue a few days ago, though there's nothing in it about a BBC World revamp or 'change' of any kind.

AFAIK, there's is NO revamp of BBC World News. They are just renevating the other side of the studio (not the news one) for this new programme. Nothing is happening to BBC World News! The reason that they join N24 is that they could still present from the desk, but you'd hear builders wouldn't you?

Basically there will be a whole new look to the morning on BBC World .. whereas there were pre-recorded back halfs - they will now be live with a variety of things like WBR and Sport Today ... this is all possible because of the new 0500-0600 hour. The style of the 0500 will be different, although AFAIK the other bulletins will remain the same.
