The font is fine. You're all nuts.

It's very similar to the previous one, but more slick and contemporary.

The aerial title sequence really does make the Yorkshire scenery look stunning. However, as much as I love the village exterior set it looks much better from the ground, where it seems sprawling and huge. From the air it's a bit less impressive.

Its quite a french styled font. Now I dont watch emmerdale (cant stand it) but the previous logo felt more fitting to the countryside, and was perfectly contemporary...

No it wasn't, it was an old looking serif font left as a design legacy from the 1970s. As such it did indeed look "fitting to the countryside". It certainly wasn't contemporary in style.

The sleeker and more modern look is far more about what Emmerdale is now.

And don't trail off when you are speaking, Martin. A lesser man than I would have found it patronising.

I agree a bit, the overhead shot makes it look like a specially built village in the middle of some fields! Laughing

It was contemporary in a sense the letters were clean with few serifs. Yes it was a bit old fashioned, but this new font doesnt feel more modern, it has a very old french feel to it, think renault etc.

I apologise if I made anyone fee patronised, I was typing it as I was saying it in my head.

Perhaps my memory of the titles are clouded, but I always thought it was a sleck contemporary serifed font. Either way I still dont like the present font, reminds me of Rotis Sans

Did all villages not start their lives in fields some where?

But by the 21st century most of the fields should have turned into housing estates!

Hate the new font (notice the Zoe trial promo uses the old one!) - and not sure on the titles - they are just missing something and without the distraction of the black and white scenes, are basically nothing more than alot of fields!

Maybe they could have kept these scenes, but instead of characters had images from the village in them like close-up shots of the post office, Woolpack and Home Farm etc.

With people talking about the Air Wick/Calgon thing, watching today on Central, at the beginning, I saw around half a second of the Air Wick sponsorship before it suddenly cut to Calgon. I presume the Air Wick ads are played out over the network, where the Calgon ones are played out locally.

Emmerdale has been on top form this week, it's debatable what has been better, this or Corrie.

I think Emmerdale now takes its rightful place as number 2 soap. It beat EastEnders on Tuesday and will no doubt do again tonight.
