I'd like them to understand the dynamic of the 2 they have now. The 2 isn't supposed to be a bouncy personality, it's supposed to be an object which is either subjected to something and/or dressed up in a particular way.
Says who? Once again TV Forumers getting tied up in branding rules that don't actually exist.

Then scrap the idents from that era and replace them. I happen to think they're great and far better than any of their successors. But if they're back, and this is the identity, then it should be just that and anything that coexists should be compatible.

Again why? these idents are something no other channel are doing, plus no one complains about the Ch4 idents.
Tell that to Thames and Border. Both of them were using their 1970 idents right up to 1989 - Thames replaced theirs with an anniversary ident (which would clearly have been temporary, but ended up replaced early), then Border's finally bit the dust a few months later with the introduction of the original ITV generic ident. Both regions could have easily still been using 20 year old idents into the 1990s had the 1989 generic not existed. The only reason nobody was still using 1960s idents in 1991 was technology. BBC1's 1969 ident technically ran until 1985 - all they changed in the interim was the colours and the wordmark. They replaced the mirror globe when CGI was able to render an anti-aliased globe. Quite a few ITV regions had one ident from 1970 until the mid 1980s, before switching to CGI. If that tech hadn't come along they would have likely stuck with what they had.

Well that was a shock, there using this ident into normal programmes now. who would have guessed.
In mildly curious news that probably means naff all beyond BBC Two brand consistency being decidedly absent, a new trailer released today uses the classic Lambie-Nairn shape "2":
Not quite sure how such things even happen but there we are. If it's the start of a move back towards the more aesthetically pleasing original numeral (bringing the surrounding presentation in line with the idents) then I'm all for it; if it's more of the same random sloppiness then
quelle surprise
