The rumours that HBO will sign a deal with BSkyB on launching version of the channel.
The channel would be managed, programmed and broadcast by Sky but would draw on the extensive programming library and resources of HBO. It is thought that some acquired and original UK content would feature.
Sky will also provide $175m (£104m) to co-produce new programmes.
HBO will have a 50% stake in HBO UK.
Also launching on Sky is a UK version of The Weather Channel.
The Weather Channel will broadcast at 6am-11am, sharing with Sky Sports Xtra which will cut back hours.
Nick Jr.2 takes over The Weather Channel from 11am-4am, handing over to Sky Travel Extra at 4pm-8pm.
HBO UK will broadcast at 8pm-4am (Mondays to Wednesday) and 1am-4am (Thursdays to Sundays).
Sky Sports Xtra will broadcast at 8pm-1am (Thursdays to Fridays) and 7am-1am (Saturdays to Sundays).
The single transponder channel will be called Channel 230
