Today, FOX launched its first free accessible channel in the Netherlands since years.
The channel is to broadcast sports, series and films.
Last year, Murdoch bought 51% of the Dutch Premier League tv channels (owned by the clubs) for 1 billion euros. Fox is now broadcasting the matches live, and the company also bought the right to broadcast the summaries (like Match of the Day), starting next season. According to Dutch legislation the summaries of the national premier league should be broadcast freely, not behind a decoder.
Between 2000 and 2001, Fox had its channel in the Netherlands, but it failed. Generally because of the reruns of The Simpsons and other programmes like that. Nevertheless, Fox scheduled The Simpsons between 18h30 and 20h00 again...
