I quite like this style, featuring the logo and a bit of colour. At least it's not clogged up like ITV1's ECP. However I prefer the white C4 ECP.

I still think it looks messy and the logo wasn't really designed to be used in the way they're using it.

This version was used on tonight's Hollyoaks, showing helpline info followed by what's next on E4:

That colour looks so much better, and is the one C4 actually use on their promo text, rather than the blueier blue!

Not sure why the line is thicker in the bottom image!

Maybe because the thicker line is meant to scream (I'm thicker! Which means I'm on next!) and the thinner line is meant to scream (I'm thinner! Which means I'm on tomorrow at 9!) Razz

Just a thought.

Does this change in the ECP mean in some way that C4 are gearing up to change the colour scheme across the WHOLE of C4? Very Happy

I don't get why they couldn't have kept the C4 one white, even with the new layout.

I know I'm usually the first when someone quotes the rulebook on on-screen graphics to say those that make the rules have the right ot break them - but so far since the 2005 revamp it's been pretty clear with C4 that the "2D" version (of the 3D logo) is only used in print, with the logo being used in it's complete 3D form on screen.

The 2D version just doesn't look that great on screen - I know when the new logo was revealed (in that form) we didn't think it would look very good, but when used on screen in it's full 3D form, it soon won us over!

One thing of note with C4 though is their general graphics package and ident package are completly different - so they can easily change one without needing to change the other.

However, it seems a mistake to drop the consistant white look they've had for two and a half years by throwing in some of this turquoise stuff.

If they really wanted their logo on their ECPs they could have made the small straps just a bit longer to incorporate them (or put the logo outside the safe area), while on the main ECPs they could have either done what they've done without changing the colour or slapped a logo on the bottom right.

However, as the logo appears at the end of the ECP I'm not sure it's neccessary at all!

Personally there are a couple of things in C4's presentation which bug me a bit more. Firstly, I'd like E4's trailer end-boards to follow the standardised look of the rest of the C4 family - logo on right, text centered on the left - all in the E4 scheme of course! (E4 logo would appear in similar way to how it does on menu, then move to centre right of screen)

Also, the Film4 logo - I think it looks great as a red square on a white background, but I'm not keen on the line version used in most presentation with the red background.

I totally agree about the E4 pres. It is so inconsistent, and silly. maybe we should suggest this to Channel 4? Rolling Eyes

Here's an idea of what it might look like if Channel 4 kept the white with the new themed ECPs :

Yep - that quickly shows they'd be as effective in white.

Actually also shows something else going back to that rule book, which says the C4 logo shouldn't be boxed in in any way.

Some new talking head promos air tonight - well, actually they are ones we've seen already but with spoof scenes attached, including Dermot O'Leary's first car being ruined and Alan Dale being hassled by a Neighbours fan.

Also, a change in the end cap for these - rather than the white logo on a coloured background it's a brightly coloured logo on a black background, which looks much better.

I didn't really want to put this in a new thread:
Shows like Countdown have started putting "© ITV Productions Ltd 2007" at the end of the programme, but it still has the Granada logo.

Does it still say ©Yorkshire Television Production 2007 at the bottom
