New Channel 4 idents

I was going to put that myself actually. That probably would have introduced Season 3. Oh well.

I love the music

Yeah, I saw it before DOND too...looked great.

And would have been perfect for Lost.

Re: E4 - I agree it's time for a refresh.

The band could be kept, but rather than the screen logo I'd like to see the big purple E4 as part of the scene - and perhaps the band doing a few idents on the locations of E4 programmes.


I'd also like to see E4's trailers changed so they are in the same style as the other C4 stations. They'd be simple to do, ending with the 3D logo animating to the right and a purple background with the info on.

I agree about E4 - they used to change the look quite often (BBC One spoofs, mirrors, crowds looking at the camera).

They should keep the logo though. I remember when E4 first started and they used a 3D version of it - glad they flattened it.

I don't think E4 has bettered its original look yet, it used to be brilliant but they've tinkered with it too much. I seem to remember an ident which was a menu of the next 3 programmes, that worked pretty well. I agree - it's time for an overhaul I reckon.

Just spotted the Rocks ident tonight before Stuck On You, absolutely brilliant. It's like it was made to introduce Lost because it's perfect for the show.....and now Sky One have it.

The best idents on TV at the moment by a very long way!

I think what also makes the C4 idents really work is the fact that they are essentially seperate from the main presentation of the channel - so do appear on screen as an actual mini-film rather than just another branding exercise!

That does make sense and I think you've nailed why they work. The trailers are a totally different style to the trailer in the way the 4 is formed. You feel like you're watching a mini movie with these idents compared to other channel's idents.

I forgot to mention that the Tokyo ident has been nominated for a Promax Award.

That's interesting. Tokyo definitely stands out as one the best sequences in the set; good to know this quality has been noticed.

Channel 4's current idents set seem to get better & better definately on par with BBC 2 (1991-2001) in some cases (Tokyo) even better
