Trafalger Square, home to an obvious pigeon problem. The 4 in this ident is a monument (nelson's column is in the background). Happy, cheerful music plays. Suddenly, the portions of the 4 pull together, suggesting the 4 is a pigeon trap and the pigeons are now crushed. A great addition to the set.

Yes I was just looking for the othet thread to post on this. Another new one funny too, it appears to be a pigeon trap and plays the most unassuming music and then WHAM!!
As promising as BBC1's new idents look they'll have a hell of a job to top Channel 4's efforts.

This time .. an urban scene I think, featuring pidgeons and a chimney... lets hope someone gets some pictures of this new addition to the great set !

I don't know, Channel 4's idents are very cleverly done, however some of them just look terribly mundane to me, eg the electricity pylons, council flats, motorway etc. Although I admit I haven't kept up with any of the newer ones, perhaps they're a bit snazzy!

The thing with C4 though is they've screened new idents just a handful of times, often late at night, and then let us talk about them for weeks before they are used again.
As for the "mundane" idents - I think they are often the best when the 4 forms up quite naturally and briefly.
P.S. Anyone actually still watching Lost. I gave up myself midway through season 1 after reading the producers planned to stretch it out for eight seasons!

There are certain ones I'm not too keen on like Pylon or the road sign one becuase the first is dull and the second goes so quickly you can't make out the 4. But as a whole package the set works.
There are some ident packages where you don't like all of them such as the new '2' (love the Morris Dancers but hate the one with the fish) but if most of them are brilliant you don't mind the duds. With Channel 4 the good outweighs the bad.
