I didn't feel this warranted its own thread so I thought I'd post it here:
Around about 5:45am, Countdown ended and the ad thingy on climate change appeared briefly before cutting to black. What followed was the menu displaying 2 of the night's programmes (truncated at the start by about a second), with no announcer.
Seems like the menu was used to fill what would have been the ad's time, because it went on for 1' 44".
The soundtrack stopped after just over a minute though, so I've left it up to that point here.

Reminds me of the early days of Channel 4 when a holding slide was often broadcast instead of ads due to the Equity strike. Shame they couldn't have used Fourscore as the music this time.
Does anyone think Channel4 are going a bit cheap as when the list of programmes coming up thingy last year they used music by Arcade Fire ect. but now they use their own

How is it cheaper to get your own music composed, performed, recorded and produced than sticking someone else's track on?
I think these idents are brilliant. They could live on for a long while, if they keep adding to their set, imo. They're presentation is amazing. They're logo still looks fresh. Well done.
HOw did they get the vehicle transporting the speakers to line up, when the camera zooms out‽ if it was really done like that, well done. If it was CGI, still very good!
Amazingly they're not CGI, all the C4 idents are just timed... must of cost a fortune, but well worth it in the long run.
Channel4 pushing the television boundaries, living up to their reputation once again.
There are some CGI elements involved because a work colleague of mine has a husband who works for The Moving Picture Company and he came to the office one day and talked about it. And the fact that some parts of the 4 float in free space on a lot of the idents gives the game away. I have to say also that I love the bales of hay one.
Channel 4 have really laid down the gauntlet with their idents, even the 2 is nowhere near as good as what Channel 4 is doing.
The elements are real (bales of hay, New York tower blocks, scummy council estate flats, road signs etc) it's CGI and a lot of time framed rendering that puts it all together.
Having seem that dockyard one a number of times, have to say I love Channel 4 more than ever, in essence the idents are simple, not trying to show emotion or any real branding, as the continuity announcer says at times "This is Channel 4", SO SIMPLE

They've used the '4' since their launch, and as such it's quite recognizable. They really don't need any other gimmick or logo stuck on there.
