So by my reckoning that's ident number 13 - so there should be two more to go then!

The "Countdown" clip is of Des Lynam, thus it post-dates the original ident set.

That's probably irrelevant as I imagine they can key-in any clip they want to the ident.

Also, though they said at launch there would be 15 idents, it's likely not all of them had been filmed.

i actually really like this ident. the way that it revolves around the man is interesting, as is the inclusion of countdown, and the soundtrack is fantastic. but, that's all normal for channel 4 presentation.

What I don't understand is if they can do idents like this, why can't they just come up with 1 Christmas ident. I wouldn't mind seeing the same one all of the time (saying that I may do if i had to), but to do nothing is a bit scrooge like. Does anyone know if it's anything to do with Andy Duncan as the first year that he came in (even though it was right before the relaunch of the image), they didn't bother to use the boxed christmas idents.

I totally agree, there's so much that could be done. I'm seeing icebergs, but sadly I don't have quite enough imagination or design skill to make it happen. Laughing

This will be the first christmas with this look, so who knows, its underastandable why they didnt bother last year, what with the new look coming into use.

I suppose they just didn't want to change things too often.

Unlike ITV, who went from the ugly "stacked" ITV1 logo to the ITV 50 logo... then changed to ugly Christmas idents and then to the current look in the space of a few months. Rolling Eyes

how does that count as anything? If BBC1 had their revamp just after christmas that would mean them having three sets of idents.

honestly this stupid ITV bashing from the children is pathetic. There's plenty of ammo you can direct at ITV without having to just reply to every thread with "urgh, not like crappy ITV, i hate them"

I'm not a child, I don't mind ITV and I don't appreciate your rudeness.

I think I should be able to congratulate C4 on doing something better without being flamed, but obviously ITV don't have faults. Not if it means pointing them out , or anything that drastic. Rolling Eyes

congratulate channel 4 you say?

where is the congratulating there? you've just attacked ITV for changing their idents four times in a few months.

Three times of which TWO were christmas and a full a revamp respectivly.

The other was because of a special anniversary week. I suppose you wrote to the duty manager at Tyne Tees when they had their Ruby ident accusing them of brand inconsistancy did you?

And don't accuse me of being an ITV laccy, that's a job for the likes of Andrew. I simply do not approve of people who comment purely to spread a pointless, stereotypical opinion of ITV = bad - BBC = perfect.

Get a grip and a widescreen telly you utter luddite freak.
