I love it! The whole C4 package is great, really... it's been on for well over a year but it still looks new - and still makes me watch every single time.

Has this ident got anything to do with the Carling Live event that Channel 4 are airing?
And if this was made back with the other batch, why didn't they use it before for music programs, and last years festivals?
But this has got to be some of the greatest presentation within the past few years, and all from a 24 year old logo.
Which begs the question, if the original channel 4 logo was much simpler than the one that we know, would it still be around today?

It probably depends on how iconic it would have been.
It's actually quite surprising the original logo still around when you consider they shoved it in circle and a box for quite a few years. But the Channel 4 logo was designed to be animated which makes it so flexible and perfect for the current batch of idents.
I think theyve dropped in these new ones at just the right time, the old ones were becomming a little dull. With these idents the ideas are so abstract its quite hard to second guess what the next one will be.

Only the other day, I was wondering if and when they would add to the current set; now I have an answer.
So, presumably 2 new idents - the Harbour one I have not seen, but the Stage ident is top notch. I get the feeling these may be used quite rarely.
The 'Blocks' 4 design has definitely stood the test of time!

I think the best thing about the Stage ident is that all the objects could actually be there, instead of some of them where the logo is formed from randomly hanging objects, which doesn't make them seem quite as clever somehow.
