Anita McNaught? I've never seen her on News 24 before, so why her?

She used to do News 24 about a year ago. She was on definately when it was corporate, I'm sure.

Anita used to do overnights at about the same time as Janet Barrie. Anita still does shifts on World. You sometimes see her doing the 0930 World News on N24.

A simple question that I'm hoping one of you will be able to answer for me.

Is Dateline London shown live?

What's David Robertson doing in London? Is he doing the same thing as Susan Osmon and going back and forth between Glasgow and London? Poor guy if he's doing that.

Dont worry hes not!

He used to work on BBC News 24 but then moved to Glasgow to start Reporting Scotland, he now works full time on Reporting Scotland

Ah yes, happy times on News 24. Smile

It seems hardly any of the original faces of News 24 are there any more. It would be nice to see a few of the old ones come back for a while. News 24 had a good presenting team when it started, and the male presenters didn't have to wear their jackets. I liked that. Very Happy

Oh whoops, didn't read the date of when that schedule was from, stooopid me. Razz:

I already have enough sympathy for poor Susan. How does she manage to travel from Bristol to London and back every weekend?!?

It seems that News 24 has become more and more formal since the corporate look was brought in. That's the thing I least like about it. I didn't see much of the pre-1999 look so really can't comment on how formal that was, although I do know that there was a lot of critisism of it at the time because it broke away from the traditional style of BBC News - a good thing if you ask me. Five Live has managed it successfully, so why not News 24?

Not many networks manage to hold on to their original anchors, CNN (US) has very few left, perhaps one or two. I know Lou Waters, presenter of CNN Live Today, has been around since launch and there are possibly a few more. Bernard Shaw recently left the network, so that's another one down the drain. Sky have quite a few originals left, I think 5 of the original launch team are still presenting on Sky.

Something I noticed when I looked at the original News 24 schedules was that a programme called 'Newsday' had three presenters, how did this work? Was it the case that they had two main presenters and the other was there for business news or sports? Sky used to have four people sitting around the desk at the top of the hour, two main presenters a sport/business and weather person, although I can't really remember it that clearly. They're now sending their business presenter off to the 'Newswall' during the afternoon, to present from there. Looks impressive.

What does she do in Bristol?

If I was getting the chance to present on BBC News 24 overnight at the weekend I'd travel from Glasgow to London every weekend and it wouldnt bother me as long as I got the see the set!.

Perhaps Im a bad example! Very Happy
