Although not billed as so, the BBC One Newsround bulletin's graphics & studio links definitely looked hd quality, though the screens especially with their strong lines between them didn't look great on screen.

Yup, it should be HD on BBC One - it's HD all the way from the studio to the Broadcast Centre.

This is the first permanent BBC News production in true HD isn't it?

To be fair Newsround isn't a BBC News production - it ofcourse worked closely with BBC News but is from Children's.

I presume that the idea is to move the programme to Manchester without much change for the viewers.

Which highlights the stupidness of the whole thing.

Well it was hardly "Newsround live from London" before was it so why tie it heavily to Manchester/Salford now?
Much as I hate to open this tedious topic again but the idea is to stop having London as the centre of gravity for these things. Years down the line when the whole employee relocation thing is history they will be recruiting from a new pool of talent that previously would have had to move to the south in order to do their chosen profession. That can only be a good thing.

There was a bit of a montage of Newsround history at the end of Newsround today due to the fact that they have won presumably the programme equivilent of a 'lifetime achievement award', mainly focussing on John Craven but various old logos were shown.

It was a very short sequence to allow Newsround to still finish around 7 minutes early in time for Pointless obviously!

When a saw a similar thing on the BBC News Channel in a coffee shop on Sunday morning with the sound down, I assumed that Craven had died suddenly and it was an obituary package! Happily, they soon cut back to an interview with the current presenters in the studio who were obviously very proud of their BAFTA.

However a fabulous extended report is available on the Newsround website featuring comments from Krishnan Guru-Murphy, Julie Etchingham and Lizo Mzimba. Also includes brief snippets on how Newsround covered Diana and 9/11.

Surprised they didn't manage to get an interview with John Craven into that package. But I have to agree it's a great tribute to the show.

I'm also surprised that they didn't have Ellie Crissel in that video, she was the main anchor on Newsround for a good couple of years.

what gets my gripe about Newsround nowadays - look in any TV listings magazine, and on the EPG it is billed as a 15 minute programme.

First of all it always seems to start late and continually finish early and last night, horror of all horrors, they did actually announce that the programme would only be 7 minutes long. What a shame, especially with yesterdays episode as it could had given more scope to feature on winning the gong with interviews etc.

So basically when the 430 programme finishes there are pathetic stupid VT montage followed by unscheduled programme, "Owl", followed by another montage followed by Newsround followed by another montage - why not stick a true cartoon somewhere in there, such as Bugs Bunny, Mighty Mouse, Roger Ramjet or Telebugs? Or just finish CBBC at 5.05pm and stick a classic drama on such as Blake's 7, Bergerac or Howards Way!

Yes, accommodate this man! Put on the exact same schedule as offered in the 80's when he was watching, that'll show them whippersnappers what real entertainment is!

Maybe leave the 80's shows in the past. I don't understand why they won't stick a filler like Shaun the sheep in earlier in the afternoon, have blue Peter, serious explorers & dani's house at 16:40, and schedule Newsround at 17:05. Plus that CBBC Extra song that they air before pointless keeps getting stuck in my head.

Could they not just extend Newsround?
