Yes, I can understand why you would say that, Simon. Your interest in presentation and fondness for the style of continuity in use in the 70s and 80s is undoubtedly a huge influence on your view here!!
I too share that appreciation. However, times do change and these things must evolve sooner or later. You must appreciate that for the masses of kids out there who do not share our interest, presentation on children's TV in the 70s and 80s was extremely stuffy, formal and, to be honest, lifeless.
Personally, I thought the introduction of the 'broom cupboard' was a marvellous thing for us presentation fanatics. We got to see quite a bit of the behind-the-scenes workings and with the anorak tendencies of the likes of Phillip Schofield and Andi Peters, I think the beeb earned a few brownie points from us enthusiasts.
Yes things have evolved now into something that may not fascinate us quite as much; however, we must accept that this is the way forward in terms of the vast majority of viewers of the service.

Well I always associated with "some disembodied voice" over the BBC1 globe and saw no reason why they had to "fix" the situation in 1985.

The broomcupboard was probably where my anorak tendancies came from, growing up in the 80's

The CBBC DOG has changed as well as the idents. I'm not too sure what to make of the new look yet, it reminds me of X-change.

I hate the new CBBC logo. What was wrong with the other one?
By the way, the CBBC website hasn't been updated yet.

This isn't a hark back to the past but the presentation from that era was great, what with the catchy musak as well. The era also ended the finer programmes from CBBC before the schedule was stripped down of cash inventive ideas. The schedule back then was so strong across the year and now it's all samey and the "hits" of the year are just stretched out at different points of the year rather than having a big blockbuster autumn of premiere shows.

They did need a change and the graphics from Sept 03 weren't as good as the Feb 04 ones.
I just looked on the D&D website and the new logo's on their website.
Maybe they're gradually changing the old logos to the new ones on the website

I am sick of hearing grown adults chiming in saying how they think things should look. They are not trying to get you as a viewer, its what the little 5-9 year olds want.
This need to see old graphics back in use, is just nostalgia and not a real thought for what the viewers expect and want.
