My God, they are sooo patronising on Cbeebies.  They talk so slowly, and are so over the top.  Lots of 'OOOooooh's' and 'Aaaahaahs', lots of bunny stroking etc.   If I was a CBeebies presenter I'd have go off screen after the links and shout a load of expletives just to keep me sane.

Don't you think that's what they do? I can see them doing that after the director yells cut. And it's obvious the CBeebies links are recorded too. I had a couple of freinds over earlier and we were laughing at CBeebies and they said what a stupid name it was.

Yes, but your 15, and as said before, it's a channel aimed at 2-6 year olds. My parents have friends with young children aged between 3 and 5, and I think for them CBeebies will be to them what CBBC probably is to you and your friends.

To us CBeebies will seem bizarre, annoying and pointless, but there really is an audiance for this kind of channel and I think it will be a welcome addition to homes with very young families.

Very few primary schools have digital TV.

But very many school teachers do, and yes they do record programmes at home.

As for CBeebies, I got stuck baby sitting today, the kids were 2, 4 and 5 I switched CBBC on and they kept buggin' me (no pun intended) so I switched to CBeebies and watched, yes I did watch the Tweenies, in fact in total I watched it no less than 4 times! as for the other programmes I genrally distracted myself on the net.

I have to say all of them were transfixed The only thing that is sad to see ON bbc 1/2 is the fact that CBBC on ONE and TWO seem to be like a digital channel, not like CBBC always was (if you get what I am trying to say.) I did think that Chris and Pui were possibly a bit to soft voiced, even for young kids, it wasn't bedtime, but it felt like it. On BBC TWO when they made that La La headress, Pui seemed a little bit, What shall I do, ohh, ahh (scripted) I know, what happens if I, Who do I look like.

Does CBBC only have an UBOS trailer and the CBBC Dig trailers?

I haven't looked at CBBC yet, frankly I hardly watched it when I was a kid (come on, these were the days when CITV showed great stuff like Knightmare and Round The Bend!!) but I had a look at Cbeebies and I thought it was very very cute Smile Also, the girl presenting with Chris Jarvis (Chris has been the only CBBC presenter since the days of the Broom Cupboard that I can watch without wanting to kill) looks completely identical to one of my mates. Freaked me out actually, thought she'd secretly launched a career in showbuisness for a moment...

i watched few bit of both channels (purely for research purposes, honest), and i can see both sides of the argument.

i must say, re: the quality of the presentation - i coulndn't really find anything wrong with it, considering its the first day, problems usually take a few weeks to iron out.

as to the argument as to wether there is a need for 2 channels, in the short term, no, but in the long term, yes. digital capacity is scarce at the moment - and it would have seemed obvious to launch 1 children's channel, and expand it to 2 channels later - whilst retaining bbc knowledge ... but ...

the quality, and nature of childrens programmes argument, is quite right - cartoon network, citv, nickelodeon etc are saturated with foreign imports and cartoons, and the bbc wishes to provide an alternative - and to keep their influence in the pre-teen market in multi-channel houses.

there is capacity in the childrens market, citv were going to launch a channel until a few months ago - and i do think the bbc is offering something different (if i had children, i know which channel i'd want them watching) - most of the other channels have adverts - many of which employ the 'pester-power' techneique.

and finaly, my theory on why they plumped for launching 2 childrens channels at the expense of bbc knowledge - its because they need to get their foot in the door, there is no rush to open up high-brow arts channels, so bbc four's extended hours can wait. and i agree with them, im almost sure the balance will be redressed in the future, whether they gain another multiplex, or rent some space from another multiplex.

i do agree with the channels in principle, but i think an obvious compramise would be to cut cbeebies hours down to about 5pm. i also think CBBC should repeat neighbours at 6:30pm, for those just getting in from work - or open up BBC Choice at 6:30 to show it, would give liquid news a good inherited audience.

Unfortunately as I am still an NTL analogue subscriber, I have not had the pleasure of viewing the new channels, but I quite liked the fireworks they had at just before 5:35pm.

Loved the view from outside TV Centre with the fireworks shooting out of the roof.... I wonder what everyone going past on the A40 (Westway) thought was going on?

Nice to see that they are brightening up the outside of TV Centre at night with all these lights now...

Oh and by the way, anyone know if they've fixed the dodgy bulb on the BBC logo - that, to quote a member of the TVForum 'hasn't been the same since Eamonn Holmes was hanging off it!'

I suppose that'll come out of the licence payers money too!

I always hated CITV, don't get me wrong Knightmare was the best, but I always seemed to like the CBBC personal touch. Let's face it I am only a bit older than CBBC anyway.

I remember watching more CITV than CBBC when I was younger. Knightmare was brilliant. Although I watched CBBC in the holidays, bcos if I remember CITV didn't bother that much, this was very early nineties, and we got SKY in 1993 which distracted me from CBBC & CITV slightly although I still remember watching certain things. But kids have got so much choice now, I'd be getting **** ed off as a parent with channels like CBeebies if they though I was gonna watch it with my kids till 7pm. CBeebies should definetly finish at 5pm. CBBC is fine to run till 7 really. But I'm not gonna slam the channels bcos I'm not a kid, I'd of just loved these channels about 10 years ago. It brings back the faces of Tommy Boyd, Andi Peters, Phillipa Forrester & Toby Anstis!

Most my schools programmes come from the 90s & BBC LEARNING ZONE & I've seen some old Daytime On 2 stuff from the 80s too!

I agree that cbeebies should finish at 5 as ive just endured the same episodes of teletubbies and tweenies all day! i know it used to happen on cbbc on two and cbbc on choice but now theyve got a dedicated channel something should be done about it!

Also NEWSROUND :-
does anyone else agree that the graphics are borrowed from the ITN News Channel and the NTL browser system on ntl digital?

I was watching my analogue 4 x3 set and thought my ntl digital has mysteriously appeared on it! my hopes were dashed when i realise it was just nr!

otherwise im quite impressed with both of the channels - apart from chris jarvis he just annoys me! but i had great pleasure in seeing him singing kids songs earlier today! he's found his pinnicale in his career at last!

CJalways seemed either too old for CBBC or Too young (presenting styles) he is suited to kids shows, he did playdays.

I have to say the Newsround aston is pointless! They don't really know what to do with it and why those bloody arrows? They don't make any sense!

Also, anyone like the new vamp? Reminds me of the old John Craven (tapping on milk bottles) days!
