They are absolutely terrible. What a stupid and terrible decision to mutilate the existing idents, chop them together, blow them up and wreck the music with one version only. This better be a stop-gap for something better!

I wouldn't put your hopes on that, It seems to be the 'in-thing' lately to just ammend current idents into new idents

I think that the new CBBC look is awful- cropping the 4:3 shows and the idents are just the old ones, jsut cropped to 16:9 then palyed really fast to hope no-one notices its been cropped. its a really bad move and I wish they hadnt done it. Nothing wrong with the old look at all and at least all programmes were shown in their proper format. Ive already complained about the cropping to CBBC directally and I hope more people have as well. As my digital box is set to 4:3 the idents look redicuously big and the 4:3 shows look even worse.

If you're complaining about show* *** being shown in their proper format then why is your box set to 4:3? Confused

Because on letterbox the black bands are too big and I cant stand tall thin people.
If I get a reply from the BBC I will psot it here.

Right, what i don't understand is this cropping nonsense.

Take for example Woody Woopecker (an american 4:3 cartoon)

It appears in perfect 14:9 on my normal TVs.

what happens on widescreen tvs and on widescreen broadcasts.
</THICK MODE>

Also the Breakfast Show idents are sh*te

That's the problem, it shouldn't be in 14:9, in 14:9 you're seeing less picture than if it was shown in 4:3, which is how it's supposed to be shown.

On a widescreen tv, thin black bars are shown at each side, when watching through a widescreen digital source anyway.

The point is, programmes shouldn't be cropped like this, it makes things appear very close to the top and bottom edges when viewing through digital with the box set to 4:3.

Like James said, the black bands are big on letterbox mode, and even me, who likes to see as much of the picture as possible, had to put my box on 4:3 before I got me new telly as it was driving me mad. Even if James (who I know wouldn't do this anyway Smile )had his box on letterbox mode, he would see big black bars at the top and bottom, AND thin black bars on the left and right!

Totally agree with you, I don't understand why they've decided to do what BBC News does with their material, how awful!

Maybe the guys at CBBC knew that the little kids won't complain!

Are you mad, although i'll agree that Newsround needs a new look, CBBC desperatly needs a new look(and still does).

The closing titles of CBBC at 5:35pm are rather good. It's improved slightly.
