Heard a suggestion today that BT might be looking at a comprehensive non exclusive highlights package of Six Nations Rugby next Winter as Setanta previously showed, a shortened form of which currently airs on BBC Red Button. Possibly including a full length replay in the week of one of the previous weekend's matches.

I also note that BT are showing highlights of the City Games they sponsored last weekend and were shown live by BBC Sport.

Before it became Dave, UKTV G2 featured a lot of sport, they did of course sub-licence the Beeb's World Cup matches in 2006 and also around that time they showed highlights of the Six Nations. They also had a sports magazine show for a bit and I think the idea was they'd bid for more sport and turn the channel into a bit like what ITV4 is now, I think there was even a suggestion they'd launch a UKTV Sport channel, but somewhere along the line they went off that idea and abandoned it.

As I say, they had Six Nations highlights on Saturday and Sunday nights, quite lengthy ones as well. I doubt the highlights have much value but it would allow BT to sell themselves more as the home of rugby and give them access to more footage for Rugby Tonight and that.

I remember that and thinking who on earth would choose G2 over the BBC. The UKTV Sport magazine show was also shown on UK Bright Ideas so that it had a Freeview slot. It was all a bit odd and the whole thing felt like they didn't know what to do with the rights they had.

I don't remember much in the way of sport on UKTV before the 2006 World Cup on G2 - so can anyone explain this UK Gold-branded table football table in the BT Sport canteen?

Some might have missed that Talk Talk's case with Ofcom about BTs alleged loaded pricing, i.e. BT adding BTS for free in its broadband deals, therefore distorting the market, was formally dismissed by the regulator today.
