The BBC are stupid and thick to pay such a crazy amount of money for some absolute crappy idents that were rushed at the last minute! The domino ident was only actually finished over the weekend, and was delivered to the BBC today!

Things need to be approved and changed quite often at the last minute, I know because I've been there.

Sure, over a month later and Identz is still being re-designed Very Happy

Sorry!

Oh look, it's Fish again... (Yawn)

Especially after reading all the posts tonight, I'm feeling rather dejected. But then...all you have to do is switch over to BBC1 where...the balloons are still there...the trailers are still centralised...

Argh chronic is the only thing I can say, its such a backwards move, such little variation, such dull idents. I think the 2's before had better personalities. The purple box is awful, so intrusive, and there all of the time through trailers. Its stupid to have a non centrally aligned identity at the moment, I havn't even got a widescreen TV and it annoys me! Bad, bad step, the 1997 Genericsim of text was beatiful and now, its lying in tatters. Must the BBC really dump two highly succesful, incredibly adaptable sets of idents? They've already done one.

BBC Hitlist: Lorraine Heggasy, Greg Dyke, this list WILL grow.

Anyway one a brighter note Domino(which I havn't seen) and Logo (which I have), could have formed part of a new batch, of comp generated one, because they are fairly good, but add that to the previous lot and maybe even some tradional style new ones, and of course with a proper logo and text.

Jane Root is head of BBC Two Smile  Don't bump off Lorraine before she gets rid of the balloons. January could just be a rumour!

And fish before Newsnight?! What were they thinking? Then again, their choices are limited.

iirc, the new purple box violates bbc logo guidelines that say logos should be on one line and both text the same size. Don't quote me on that though, just vaugly remember reading it...

Does Identz cost £30,000 a page? I think not.

The reason its undergoing this intensive tweaking is in response to you lot saying how much you didnt like the two previous looks. The video section of identz will be a little while longer in returning, but the rest of the site will be back tommorow evening (possibly before if BT Internet decides to let me access the site files!!)

Wonder if the Learning Zone will still look the same tonight? And with a DOG still saying |B|B|C| TWO even though that isn't seen in that form anywhere else now?

Yes on both counts, since this is the BBC's 'Let's Go Inconsistent' Day.

Yeah but Asa, 4 words - Joy Of Text Night! I'll stick Jane Root on there aswell.
Just thought why, oh why do the BBC thing that people who watch Working Lunch love fish? Working Lunch looks great, but then they use Fish before it and then at every opportunity plugged the Blue Planet site at the end, surely a tenuous link.
Thats another thing, BBCi, awful trailers, the BBC Online trailers were loads better before.

OK, so...

'Fish' - The 2 turns around a bit, some fish swim in and 'run' away, a couple of bubbles, Who ever got the idea to have real life fish in a 2 ident must be mad, Next...

By the way, Notice that the 2 is backwards way round most of the time!

'Logo' - A 2 comes along, grows arms, and turns a sign around, mmm, Better than fish, but still a bit abstract.

'Domino' - This ones actually quite good, But after 1000 showings, may be a bit dull

'Bounce' - Like a poor version of Blade really?

Compare this with, a blue light thing in the shape of a 2 zaps a fly, a 2 like a neon sign, a 2 drops into some powder, I know the ones I prefer.

And also what is it with the PURPLE BOX, Why couldn't they have kept the same BBC TWO logo?
My bets are on, the BBC TWO caption returning in a few weeks?

Its just a pitty PoV isn't on at the moment

I hope the BBC are haunted by the the old 2's. Some of them will be haunted by the music to Optic and Silk in their sleep. I hate the new ones, ive always loved the old ones since i was a little one, I thought they would have made more of an effort at closedown last nite, I wanted to see a mixture of the 2's from over the years, all we got was Paint!

Plus at 7am this morning, BBC TWO did some 'in-vision' widescreen switching, so you could clearly see the PURPLE BOX:( move!

I was pleased at last night's final ident, that it was Paint, and that the announcer let it run for longer than usual before talking. It felt rather poignant.

Domino is the only one of the new idents I vaguely like, because it did make me laugh on first sighting and I've only seen it twice so far.
