A bit of a disappointment that Armando Iannucci isn’t involved with the creative progress of designing idents, his spoof on 2004: The Stupid version was fantastic; A woman trying to pick up a bag she had dropped in the middle of the road being run over by a red car – fantastic!
That shot was actually taken from a episode of Silent Witness, it is Dr Sam Ryan being run over as she retreives her handbag from the middle of the road.
Very funny spoof I thought, even though when I saw the original clip in the programme it was one of those rare shocking moments that you least expect
(on a par with Rachel's car crash in Cold Feet)

Although changing the red box on the BBC ONE logo to have a Burberry background may help that

These aren't "chavs", they're just dancers in costumes (which aren't particularly chav-like).

I also quite like the music, horrible filming though, and horrible choice of location. I don't know what it is that I don't like about it. As it is filmed in practically the same way that the original idents were filmed with a bit of red here and there.
The music reminds by of that Mousse T song 'I wanna write your name on my T Shirt right about now, hey, hey, hey...' etc.

I have to say it's no better or worse than I was expecting - another uninspiring ident from an uninspiring set. On the plus side, I quite like the music. I can't work out what it reminds me of though.

I think that pretty much sums up my thoughts on this new ident...
But look on the bright side, it's perfect for Little Britain!

Just worked out what it reminds me of... and it's been bugging me all afternoon. It's extremely similar to Fatboy Slim's Gangster Trippin' (and presumably whichever song it sampled). Not sure whether that's a good thing or not though.

Just caught up with the new ident on the video, and I really thought they couldn't get any worse - but they have!! To think, almost 20 years ago we were being treated to the delights of the BBC1 COW for the first time, now we have to put up with this rubbish! And they say there's no such thing as dumbing down...
There were signs of improvement around 2003 when the slightly better Tango, Tai Chi and Skateboard were introduced, but now it seems they're getting worse again. I seem to remember it was said when the first eight idents were launched in 2002 that a further eight would be introduced later. As we now have 15 idents (not counting Tai Chi Rotation as separate to Tai Chi) do we really only have one more dancing ident left to come?
And are we really stuck with these for as long as Lorraine Heggessey remains in her position? As we've now had them for getting on for three years, and it was over a year between her appointment and her idents being launched, we are in serious danger of the dancers outliving the balloons (which lasted four-and-a-half years) - now that would be a travesty.
One more point before I stop rambling on - bearing in this mind these idents are supposed to all-inclusive, politically correct, reflecting all corners of society, why are there now six idents which feature only male performers (Tumbler, Skateboard, Capoeira, Hip Hop, Haka and Tapdogs) but only three featuring only female performers (Acrobats, Music Video and Ballet - the latter of which is never shown anyway)??
