There's an article in this week's Ariel about a new BBC1 ident, filmed in Kenya, and featuring Masai men. It was shot while the natural history unit was there. It'll be shown next week, before Big Cat Diary.

Sorry, it is what i have been waiting for. BBC one needs a new one as BB Two has Ice Cube

Why is a BBC One ident being filmed several thousand miles away in Kenya, when BBC One dosen't even broadcast there?

Surely there's plenty of scenery in the UK without having to film what I can only suspect to be some kind of tribal dance.

I really do welcome the fact that idents will come from world locations. It opens it up to endless ideas!

Won't this look a bit like Haka, as it is likely to feature people chanting in an incomprehensible language and making symbolic motions?

Apparently the ident is connected with the new series of 'Big Cat Diary' - the resources in Africa being used for the new series were used for the ident.

I wonder what will be red in it. Unless they are wearing red. What's red in the haka ident? Aren't they wearing black shirts on a rugby pitch? So what's red in that?

From the pics I've seen all the tribal outfits are red and it looks like red hair dye as well.

RED HAIR DYE? We'll have to wait and see how it turns out, it could be effective, but then it couldn't. Is it all men, all women or a mixture
