When is the New BBC1 Controller Starting?

I was just wondering if anyone knew when that Goddess that is Lorraine Heggessey leaves to go and work for the other side? I thought it was June that a new controller started. What should be the new controllers first priority? My suggestion would be to strengthen the prime time schedules by showing a more varied line up and reliance less on repeats like OFAH and also limit the amount of shows that Jonathan Ross is in!

Yes, a little bit on the fundamental side there Joe. They most probably will make it to 4 years old and possibly longer. I actually think that changing an ident will not be the top priority on his agenda. Despite critisicm about Lorraine Heggessey, she did transform BBC1 into the most frequently watched TV channel by the majority viewing audience, so to continue this trend and surpass it will be a big and huge challenge. Commissioning the right sort of programmes while keeping a balanced and varied schedule is far greater value for money than changing idents. Idents come to the end of broadcasting life usually every four to six years so I reckon that we will see the dancers until at least 2006.

After all, even though some people hate them, they are instantly recognisable with all that is BBC1. When Ms. Heggessey took over the BBC1 helm she declared in March 2001 that she was axing the balloon. It took little over a whole year to come up with different ones. So, the dancers are not just going to waltz off the screen.

By the way, heaven forbid Joe, but if BBC Tv does get bombed, perhaps you will see how irresponsible and ridiculous your signature is. I don't mean to be rude because usually I agree with your comments....but I'm with Dan on this one.
