Who's he? Where's he from? Will he do any good?

Broadcast is tipping Alison Sharman. I hope its not her- she doesn't exactly seem to be a fan of PSB. She's put Flog It up against the Six and targeted the same audience! Another reason why she shouldn't get it is that she has commissioned hour long episodes of Doctors- isn't a half hour bad enough??

He has just vacated the job that Lorraine has left the BBC to take over (head of Talkback Thames).... it would be basically a job swap.

IT's a tough act to follow, but I think he'd be a good choice

I know it's not a 21st century attitude to take, but I'm actually quite glad it's a man and not a woman!

I really can't see him keeping the dancers, and for some reason I couldn't have seen a man commissioning them in the first place (again sorry for the stereotyping!). Hopefully we'll be seeing a nice shiny (and credible) new presentation package for BBC One in the near future...Sure, it won't be his first priority, but each controller invariably has his or her own vision for the channel, which most certainly will include idents and presentation.

I'm pleased with this appointment as well - far better the candidates I listed in an earlier post - and glad the BBC haven't stolen another person from C4.

More importantly than the dancers, I think he has the experience to finally get the BBC schedule right with the correct mix of entertainment, drama and factual programmes. Will he have the power to axe EastEnders though?
