There's a clip of one of the early 60 Seconds bulletins here, when it had quite a big studio for a show in which it only appeared for about 5 seconds on screen! http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcthree/2011/07/60seconds10.shtml

Although in fairness I think that was also used for Liquid News.

Ah that would make sense, sorry.

Just me that thinks these are the worst idents BBC Choice/Three have ever had? It's the sort of thing I might have expected for an ITV2 rebrand 10 years ago.

No, not just you.

Seems like they're trying to channel 4Music but... I don't know, they're different, not particularly memorable or well crafted and could be adapted for any channel of its ilk.

I loved the Blobs but it was obvious why they had to go. Doesn't seem to be much inventiveness or assuredness about BBC pres these days, which is a shame but I guess there's obvious reasons for that.

New BBC Three ident - http://vimeo.com/74591270 - shown tonight between the American Dad double.

Only just spotted this thread.

That is absolutely atrocious.

Not sure whether I like these or not. They do have some sort of inspiration in them at least, compared to a lot of the boring corporate live action presentation we get these days. The big caution flag is the lack of the station name. It's not really on the screen all that long. I haven't seen them in action yet so I'll see how they work with continuity before I know if I like them. I was never a fan of the existing presentation anyway.

Everything in the Channel 4 idents is about gearing up to form the logo and near enough every object is a constituent part of the logo. With all the fast paced random stuff going on, it's far harder to catch the BBC Three logo.

I think they're the best idents to come out of the BBC for a good few years. Much better than the half-arsed attempt that BBC 1 do for their ident 'updates', and the whole package is bang on design trend (so perfect for BBC Three).

"best idents to come out of the BBC for a good few years" is surely damning with faint praise?

Indeed. Few would doubt these are the best out of a bad bunch, but I'm not keen. This kind of design is nothing new. Compared to itv2, arguable its closest rival, which dramatically changed its colour and identity in January but is still much stronger than these idents IMO.

Would echo both comments - not entirely sure about these...

It is an improvement over the previous lot... But I'm seeing that as mainly being down to complementing the recent surrounding Presentation better - not necessarily all that good in its own right; for example I can look at the 'Feed My Funny' stings and see how they arrived at this update... It's no 'Blobs', however.

Only just seen these - noticed as I was watching the Doctor Who after party and posted on that thread to be pointed in this direction. Shows how much I watch BBC Three!

I'd give them 10/10 - can't believe Red Bee has made a decent set of idents. They're energetic, fun, mysterious, look great and fit with the channel very well.

Admittedly they look so good as they follow some of the worst idents in TV history.
