BBC should take a leaf out of US channels and place DOG in lower right with 50% opacity. This means that it is out of the way from people faces.

Why is the BBC AMERICA logo in the top left of the screen?
The logo is positioned according to the BBC's international guidelines and is consistent with all the BBC's international channels. Additionally, it is customary for television stations in the United States to identify themselves with an on-screen logo.

So do they just want to lose ratings?! Rolling Eyes What a stupid guidline!

Regardless of any watermark, I think the dog simply needs a good run round to shrinking proportions. I mean, What were they thinking?

I'm surprised this has actually happened given the BBC's strict rules on dogs. There is actaully a web page with the all relevent details of how the dog should be placed and how it should be not be overly attention grabing.

Looks like there's going to be a bit about it on the 7 O'Clock News.
(the programme started with the logo almost full-screen, gradually shrinking down, with the presenters asking 'how big is too big?')

Is it just me or is it semi-transparent tonight?

In response, you may notice if you watch tonight that the logo is less opaque, so don’t say the BBC doesn’t listen.

Edit: I notice that BBC article links to Digital Spy.

clearly they want people to like it so they link to the message board full of loonies

it's horrid though, I love the new trailer design but this is just pontless, like all BBC Dogs.

And on a similar topic, is the News 24 Press Red thing permanent now? it's infuriating too.

there was! but it wasnt directly involved with the bbc three DOG. but conversation moved onto it, and there were a few words said. it was mostly that DOGs could get annoying, but that there were much more important things to worry about. it was just generally a discussion about the issue of "DOGing" as they called it.

Now a cynic would suggest that they would know full well how bright it was would get people's backs up and therefore toning it down is just making it look like they're doing something in response.

Not that I'm a cynic or anything Wink

Shame BBC Three News isn't streamed online.

Will this see the end of the stupid "Comedy Tuesday" etc. dogs then!

I agree with most that DOGs work far better in the bottom right (it's natural the last place you look - top left is the first place!), and quite transparent so they are there, but not obvious. Colours should also be banned!

Channel DOGs on the whole don't bother me that much - it's the Sub-Dogs that do - either branding such as "Comedy Tuesday" or something like "Two Days to Popbeach". These promo DOGs and branding DOGs should be BANNED!

That's more the case with me- I can live with them as long as they're not colourful, transparent and not animater. however, I hate promotional text, scrolling banners ans "up next" captions, all of which for me are a deterant. Though I would certinally prefer it if there were no logos in the first place, really all the arguments for them fall flat.

All I can say though, is for future crap on the DOG front, just watch the music channels. they always ontroduce it before everyone else. MTV were using scrolling banners and on-screen promotion back in 1999, around 3 years before other channels caught on. Also I beleive MTV Europe was actually the first UK based channel to have a DOG!

Why can't the beeb make their DOG's transparent and put them in the bottom right? Mad
It's less distracting.
