Sorry if this is old news but can't remember reading about it on TVF:
Quote:
Older kids (13-17 years) will have a "teen" brand TV, Radio1 and broadband based service, expected to start in 2007

Have you tried reading the words of the article?

Presumably CBBC's move to CSO has something to do with this new service? Perhaps "Teen BBC" will be making use of studio 9? I wonder though, what sort of timeslots it will be given (aside from its broadband content). 6 - 7pm on BBC Two might make sense, and then perhaps even 7 - 8 on BBC Three? There's certainly nothing distinctive in these timeslots at present, anyway, and they might benefit from the introduction of a different strand.

I know it's all speculation at this stage but it will be interesting how they go about it, and whether it will actually take over any of CBBC's time on BBC1 or 2 (Saturday mornings might be an obvious candidate, TMi seems to be aiming at a slightly older audience still).

I would probably watch BBC Teens, maybe they will use TC9 and maybe even use Angellica as she has been there since like 1999 so a lot of teenagers/young twenties have grown up with her

If the CBBC Channel's hours were extended to 7am-10pm then Teen BBC could air 7.30pm-10pm. this would give younger viewers 1/2 hour more programing and 2 1/2 hours of teen orientated programing. if the hours arnt extended then a 6pm-7pm slot on BBC Two and a 7pm-8pm slot on BBC Three would make sense.

I dont actually think many teenagers would watch the 6pm-7pm slot as they are either out at that time or watching Channel 4. It does make sense though to have the switchover option at 8

If the BBC can't launch any new channels due to government stuff, I think that a reshuffling of the whole network is in order to make space and in effect make a new channel across channels if it makes any sense such as:

BBC1

3:00pm- Cbeebies
3:30pm- CBBC
4:45pm- BBC Teens

BBC2

5:30pm- BBC Teens

BBC3

7:00pm- BBC Teens

CBBC Channel

8:00pm-10:00pm- BBC Teens

Where the time starts, it would be where it finishes on the previous channel. This way, a new channel would be launched from 4:45pm-10:00pm without actually technically launching a channel ...

too many channel switchovers. IMO CBBC should stay on BBC1 from 3.25-5.35,
BBC Teen should air on BBC2 from 5.15-7.00 then the CBBC Channel from 7-10

CBBC/BBC3 are the same channel in every way except branding-related issues (ditto CBeebies/BBC4). To extend CBBC's hours, they would either need to nick time from BBC3 (or 1, 2 or 4, but that would be more complicated technically) or effectively launch a new channel
